It was three days ago now so maybe my memory is hazy but my recollection is he jogged through about 10m. Then Edwards - who was about 20m off the ball - makes a decision to barrel straight into him. I mean perhaps JWH could’ve kept running a decoy beyond the try line, maybe into the stands, but perhaps Edwards could’ve taken one of the other 35748 possible routes to try and make a cover tackle?
Is it possible to want decoy runners to run decoys properly and players not to deliberately run into them and fall over when they are nowhere near the hole created and nowhere near making a tackle? Do I have to choose a side here?
No one is complaining about decoys who obstruct defenders, or stop in the line, or hit the outside shoulder etc etc.
The JWH one was extra ridiculous because not only was he well and truly through the line, he was slowing down (to avoid running into the crowd and obstructing one eyed Rabbitohs supporters) AND he wasn’t even looking at Edwards. Truly one of the worst calls of all time.
