They all retire when they are told they aren't going to be selected.

I only gave it some actual thought because I realised I could potentially have 6 players on a bye. (Plath, Fuller, Angus, May, Kris, Strange).  Looks like I'll need to look closely at May, Kris and Strange and see if they can be replaced with some of the players I listed before then.  Strange and Kris probably were gone before then but Weeks a trade in, his name just subs in for one of Strange/Kris.

My issue is less the number of outs for the R14 bye and more how many shittos I will need to play that round as a result.

Currently means a round playing Salmon, Hughes, Chan and Mikaele, who would normally be safely in my EMG or at least getting to loop one of them in.

Not sure I see much point keeping Salmon around but if he retains the lock role, he does potentially fill both those rounds.

I will be. I don’t think my squad balance is off because of that decision tbh

If the deck chair shuffling was to decide on the best possible view of the amazing sunset over the horizon, rather than to see the ship crash into a fuckoff iceberg on a subzero evening in the North Atlantic from slightly different angles, then I think the analogy works.

    Cleary and Hynes it is.
Leaning towards Hynes captaincy though based on form and ownership. No need to go with a pod captaincy with my current OR

I'd rather player 1-2 players short in R14, than trade in a bunch a bunch of players who'll give me a meh score but will be otherwise not very useful.

For example, is it worth getting JFH and his 40 points, if you have to trade away a 50 point player to get him?

Unless you have a bunch of trades handy to switch players in and out, it might not be worth it.

There will be some players who are worth it, of course. The trick is getting them and then having them avoid injury and/or surprise origin call ups

Some say it was due to the weather and ground conditions.

I'm hesitant about captaining Hynes against his old coach. Storm have had the Sharks number in the past, and Hynes is due a regression to the mean.

Cleary has been heaps rested and plays a side with limited ability to pressure a half. Very tempting. May wait for captain's run pics.

Normally I'd agree but there's two reasons why that's not the case now.

1: The Storm have a few injuries. Papy gone and both Hughes and Fa'alogo in doubt. If both those guys are out, then the right edge will be very weak defensively (Meaney would go to fullback and Wishart to halfback).

2: With Trindall out, Hynes is doing everything in that Sharks side, with Atkinson not doing that much. His floor is ridiculous.

Yeah I agree, the Storm beat the Sharks 54-10 in June 2023, can't see that happening this year, the Storm haven't looked their best

    Good logic there, thanks!
