    filths rabble of a squad.

    JBrailey
    Haas (vc), Cotter, Moale
    Crichton, KPP
    Hynes(c), Weekes
    Iro, Koula
    Tedesco, Armstrong, Fa'alogo

    Robson, Grant, Galvin, Burbo

    SHughes, Cleary, Kris, Piakura

Holding trades is for losers, it's 2024 we don't do that anymore.

A post on the Knights forum saying Gagai and Friz in captains run photos. Not sure if that means anything either.

    Walsh, Armstrong, Fuller

    Brailey, Matterson, Galvin, Strange
    Piakura, Chevy, Waddell, Hughes

    Thinking

    Waddell + Walsh - Weeks + Drinky

    Then either

Chevy to Dom Young or Piakura to Nikora

Hello me old mollusc! Solid looking team.

I'd lean Piakura out before Chevy, but it's damn close. The deciding point would be who you're bringing in.

Both Dom Young and Nikora seem great buys, as does Weekes.

I don't love Drinky though - not a great bye schedule ahead, fully priced with a high BE, and isn't a guarantee of being in the top 4 scorers in his position come year end. Most folks are finding the cash for Yeo/Haas instead, and looking at your squad I'd go there first if possible.

But you could also use another WFB or /CTR flexible sort. So perhaps bring in Isaako, Koula, Meaney or punt on a no-Origin Teddy?

Edit: wait, is that Ben Hunt? Gotta be tempted to kick him out on the bye, and ahead of Origin.

That’s good enough for me. Captain Hynes it is then. What could possibly go wrong!

There are already 6 Origin players in the team - Grant, DCE, Hunt, Cotter, Crichton, Walsh. Even after trading out Walsh, I wouldn't be bringing another Origin player in, unless playing head to head.

Yeah Ben Hunt, think he backed up all 3 games last year so bit of a POD here happy to roll and assess post origin.

May be getting sucked into Drinky a bit but with no gun WFB may fall behind since im trading out Walsh, would love Teddy but surely he makes origin and is captain with no Cleary?

Keeping Piakura and punting Chevy to Young instead helps a little bit with origin as can cover for halves

Randomly harking back to pre season discussion of importance of starting teams.

Of the top 10 money earners this year:

    > 6 didn’t play in round 1
    > 2 were/are non starting forwards
    > 1 was Strange, who everyone got
    > 1 was Eisenhuth, who no-one got

Some quality on the forums this morning

If Moses and Hynes both unfit, Jackson Hastings for NSW 7. You know it makes sense!

On that, someone should look into how the majority of Aus NRL players are from NSW yet the majority of creative/spine types are from QLD. Something very wrong with NSW pathways in the 2000s and probably 2010s

I’m also backing Luai to step up Maloney style and kick the ball now that he’s partnered with Cole rather than Schneider. Probably helps him get the 6 spot for NSW.

There’s players with the autofill team that are doing better than my actual team and I made that really bad to start.

Week to week trade decisions (supported by an element of luck/variance) are fair more important than starting team IMO

Why I basically don’t bother it until the 2nd week of trials at the earliest. And I reckon some weeks I spend more time thinking on 3 trades than I did for about 16 starting spots all offseason.

Brown or Matterson (if other Eels forwards in Origin probably my best options)

Upside risk vs Downside risk says it's worthwhile for me, I say, with Weekes as my VC.
