Great footage Rob. I like looking at historical stuff.

The in-goal officials were brought in (prior to the video ref) to help the main ref and two touchies with in-goal decisions, but, IIRC, they consistently got things wrong, and made this worse.

As we continue to see with bad bunker decisions, human error will always get in the way of "perfect" adjudicating, and we have to accept that.

I think Slats was brought in because Fatty was starting to struggle as the sole host. This was similar to how the unbearable (IMO) James Brayshaw was brought in to co-host the AFL Footy Show.

Slats was out of his depth hosting a rugby league show (I think he would have been ok hosting a cricket show), and it was pretty obvious that Fatty  didn't think much of having Slats as his co-host.

Erin was better than Slats, and she had been working as a rugby league reporter for a number of years before she got the Footy Show gig. Unfortunately, she didn't fit the blokey vibe of the show, and she got a raw deal. Funny how Joey has no problem working with Danica Mason, whose journalistic background is similar to Erin Molan's.

Yvonne Samson is another example. She is a good host of serious rugby league shows, but she looks uncomfortable when she gets anywhere near Matty Johns's blokey show with Fletch and Hindy (no females on that show).
