Yeah I'd agree that I don't think we've overperformed. Granted that winning a premiership is tough and you still need a lot of things to go your way, particularly with injuries, but even with our difficult travel schedule compared to the Sydney teams, I reckon the premiership every 3 years record we had after the 2006 season was about right. Damn introduction of the Titans did the same job on us as the Sharks did to the Dragons. Hope we win more than 1 in the next 50 years...

A decade without a premiership for the biggest club in the NRL isn't good enough. How many years do you give this current window? When do you deem it a failure?

Well there's no use looking back (particularly where the competition was bastardised by cheating teams since out last premiership, and as I've mentioned above probably robbed us of another 3 premierships   ). Personally, I think that injuries pending, this is our year, partially because of how we're playing, and partially because I don't think there are many premiership quality teams this year. You'd think next year is another good chance. After that who knows because we don't really know what our or other teams will look like then.

I also look at success in 2 ways. There is the ultimate success - a premiership, and also the week to week success. In terms of the second measure, we've still done pretty good. In 9 seasons we've made a GF, another 2 prelim finals, and the finals on 4 other ocassions I think. We've only missed the finals twice I think, and both of those times we were still a chance of making the finals leading into the last couple of rounds and have won close to half our matches for the season. A decade would be unacceptable if we weren't making finals regularly, but since our lows haven't really been that low, it has been easy enough to accept.

Oh and for 90% of that time we've been able to hold on to origin success also.

Yeah, I think you guys are specials this year and next at the very least. Coming into a real golden age as you should with all the advantages you are provided by the league. After the Eels saga is over it may present some issues if the NRL finally decide to get serious with the cap, but if they do then I suspect they will leave Brisbane well down the list because once they finally uncover the rorting that has allowed you guys to keep all the origin and international players you have each year, it really will blow every body else out of the water and won't be good for the game, just like the debacle that has been the Eels for the best part of a few decades save for the odd season.

Hey, I don't begrudge the Broncos their limited success, it is crucial for the game up there but the reality is the success for teams in cities with 8 teams all competing for the corporate dollar and junior players and without the additional benefits the NRL allow them is much much harder, that only two of those teams have failed to win a premiership since Brisbane entered the comp is actually quite an amazing effort by the 6 other and well over par and that will be improved further if Cronulla happen to jag the win this year, with there limited resources, rep stars and corporate support. 14 wins for sydney teams v the well under par 5 (97 excluded) for the Broncos. Imagine if We halved the Sydney teams. The comp would die nationally as the non Sydney teams just wouldn't be able to compete.

Junior players? Everyone has access to everyone. A good example is your own club, where the 3 best/most influential players are a QLDer, a Kiwi and a Fijiian. Plus look at at all the premiers for god knows how long. They've done it on the back of QLDers, Kiwis and Poms. 2008 Manly team is about the only side in the last decade that has done it on the back of NSW'men.

Brisbane fans, like Manly fans, are also bemused that non supporters seem to take more joy in our "lack" of success than they're own team's success. It sounds like Phil Gould. Always putting down Brisbane and never having a look at himself despite teams he's associated with in the last 25 years doing better after he left than when he was with them.

Oops. I admit I forgot about the Dragons. Let's just say they did it on the back of a QLD coach. As for the Roosters, imo the only did it on the back of a Kiwi code hopper with support of 16 others. When he wasn't there they were still a good team but couldn't get it done.

you know as well as i do that grand finals aren't won by 1 player, 2 of the 3 most important players for that team were NSW players that season (the halves)

I actually sort of disagree with that. You need a full team to get and win a gf, but you rarely win that unless you have a couple of go to superstars. Pearce and Moloney are terrific club halves, but imo they were never going to win since he left. Same with Burgess and Inglis for the rabbits in 2014, JT for the Cows, and imo Milford for us. If he is injured at the end of the year I can't see us winning the big one, even though I'd fancy us going deep into the finals.

I wish my team was as successful as the Broncos, no doubt about it and this salary cap thing really has pissed me off.
