    wow!

The salary cap investigation into Parramatta is finally over, with the NRL handing down a 12-point penalty and a A$1 million fine to the embattled club.

Five officials - club chairman Steve Sharp, deputy chairman Tom Issa, director Peter Serrao, CEO John Boulous and head of football Daniel Anderson - have all been deregistered by the NRL and will leave the club.

The sanctions have all but ended the high-flying Eels' hopes of returning to finals football for the first time since 2009 despite starting the season with six wins from their first nine games. The Eels will still be able to play for competition points the remaining games season.

    Heads rolling.

His match fitness should be fine, he's been playing lower grades.

OK so my shambles of a team will probably look like this for the next round:

    Smith (Friend)
    Surgess, JDB
    Parker, Taupau, Whitehead (Fensom, Carter)
    Hastings, Taylor (Lamb)
    Dugan, Holland
    Mitchell, Radradra, Gutherson

It's only 12 points, 8 points behind the top 8...

Come on Eels, Leicester did it... you can do it!

    So many questions lol

Farah has been pretty much our best over the last few weeks. Halatau will be in the 17. Certainly creates a headache with what to do with Ballin, but it's a rod JT made for his own back.

Am I wrong or do you only have 6 for Rd 12 at this stage?

A deal with the Knights for Ballin would be nice.

So they lose the 12 points but what about their current points differential?
We all know that comes into play late in the season.

Currently they are on +45 so that still gives them a massive advantage compared to if they had 0 differential or had actually lost those six games.

    Got Saifiti as well Laughing

Will have nine if Feeney somehow gets a gig then most likely bring in some round 12 guns ala Hunt.

Interesting point. Figure they go to "0".

Why would they go to 0.
They have still won 6 games this year, and got points for winning them.
The points penalty is (theoretically at least) unrelated to any games this year, and is punishment for prior season's indiscretions

I do wonder if they had have lost on the weekend that they would have only lost 10 points. In that the NRL were maybe always going to take them back to 0 points when they announced it. If that is the case, then they will probably wipe their F and A as well.

Do you reckon it will matter though? I can't seem them being in contention now. Based on past NRL regular season tables the Eels would have to win 12 of their next 15 games. I can't see that happening.

The Parramatta Eels will be docked all competition points accumulated so far this season while their team was in breach of the salary cap. The club will be able to begin accruing points as soon as it makes the necessary changes to comply with the 2016 cap.

Mr Weeks said the NRL's Salary Cap Auditors estimated that the Parramatta Eels are currently around $570,000 over the salary cap.

I wonder what these "necessary changes" will be ???
