I went for a 7km walk along the coastline on that magikarp grind last night. Stopped at the local to rest my feet and grab a pint, ended up in a car convoy with a couple 20 something randoms going round to lures all over the city.
Working in the CBD is helping me out heaps. Caught a 1048 Magmar which I was pretty stoked with.
Got a few 10k eggs that are close as well.

Rhodes is definitely the place to be. Just spent that last 4 hours there and added 23 new pokemon to the pokedex. Probably caught about 100 Pokemon in general including some really strong and supposedly rare ones

The crowd there was ridiculous it's definitely a hot spot. 3 stops all side by side with lures going non-stop
I don't know how rare they are, if at all, but this is what I caught.
Abra, magnar, vileplume, gloom, slowbro, rhyhorn, drowzee, machop, gravelar, vulpix, growlithe, lickitung, tentacool, cubone, evee, parasect, poliwrath, dratini, seel and a few others.
As well as about 3 charmander, 4 squirtel and 3 pikachu!

Arghhh so frustrating, everytime I seem to catch what I would consider quite rare they are of an awful CP level! Wartortle and Kadabra both below 50 CP

Can never seem to find enough starters out in the wild for the evolutions. Got a few squirtles and bulbasaurs but can't seem to find charmanders anywhere.
Besides that not doing too bad but not as well as some of you guys here. Best so far is a 1200 vaporeon with a flareon and jolteon sitting just over 1000
