Well when you consider it a grade 2, you've gotta wonder what a grade 5 would look like or even a 3 or 4 for that matter
Nrl judiciary is basically:
Charge anything that is reportable with a grade 1 and let those loading add up so players miss game for soft offenses
Charge the really bad ones with a grade 2 and give them only a slightly tougher punishment
Exactly. Then when people get sent straight to the judiciary like McClean and Prior, the suspension they get equates to about a grade 3 or 4 tops.
Furthermore, if Thaiday challenges the grading saying yes he lifted but he released and didn't drive the player into the ground, and Parker over the top contributed to the dangerous position, he is probably a 50/50 change of it being downgraded. That's what Reynolds argued in 2014 for a tackle that was no better than Thaidays.

The Reynolds tackle looks far worse but Tate lands on his back. Gallen lands on his head in a pile driving position.

What do you expect from this nuppty, he also didnt select a player for game one because "he hadnt been in the system before" basically it doesnt matter how good you are if you havent been a development player you cant make the team

I'd love to see Walters say that since the series is wrapped up if injury or suspension occurs, the players suspended in emerging camp will have their suspension lifted. The guys who played tonight deserve to be selected for game 3, but if any of them are unavailable, I'd love to see Napa or Munster given a run.

Just sends the wrong message mate. If any of our players become unavailable then would like to see the next best after those suspended selected.Dip wrote:I'd love to see Walters say that since the series is wrapped up if injury or suspension occurs, the players suspended in emerging camp will have their suspension lifted. Webke. He was my favourite player for a long time and I met him a couple of years ago and he was as down to earth as any of us.Honeysett wrote:Will pay that ^
Got a photo with him after game 3 in 2014. Nice guy considering we were in Origin gear but I will tell you who is a true testiment to Rugby League from QRL. Petro. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet, actually felt like he wanted to talk to you and get to know you. Absolute champion.
Not enough likes for this, it's honestly starting to put me off logging in.Honeysett wrote:

As much as I agree with him on it Gus is just a coward. Too scared to mention a name and as soon as Yvonne asked him if he would get involved again he basically shat on our current team and admitted that he only succeeded because we had better cattle than qld when he was coach.SI wrote:
Yep I reckon it was mainly aimed at Gallen too. Absolutely giving it to him without actually saying his name.
Friz was huge Welshy you called it and I'm glad you'll have something to smile about. Jennings, Gallen and Bird just can't cut it anymore and I'm not sure Daley ever had it, if Ted isn't selected for game 3 I have a couple of members tickets I'll be very tempted to give away. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned by anyone or maybe I just missed it but I'd really like to see the angry ant as the coach, he'd get the best out of the team from an attitude an football perspective imo.
Congrats to all you two headed pricks, the better team won. Enjoy your celebration I'm off to go fishing with Rabs.

Great game to watch and well done QLD, more ball in the red zone and far more clinical! Well deserved series win, congrats! Frizell as expected was absolutely outstanding, not just the try and the other he would of scored if Jennings wasn't like a breached salmon flapping about but the defensive effort, chasing back and hard nosed running was nice to see him rag Smith with his first carry! At least that losing effort should signal the end of the old guard and see some exciting talent come to the fore! To be honest I've been so happy with life currently with Wales smashing the euros that I'm not as disappointed in this loss as I would normally be! Tedesco has to be in there would like to see Moylan in the 6 with a back three of Dugan, Tedesco and Mansour/BMoz long term

Re: State of Origin Game 2
I'm gonna stand up a bit for Jennings here. It's very easy, and I've done it before, when someone makes a silly error, to blame them for the loss, but I think we need to dig a little closer into his game.
Like Gagai, he made a silly mistake that resulted in the other team scoring a long range try, and he rushed up from the line when he probably didn't need to to allow another, some big moments no doubt. With regards to the finger tip touch, there was no way he was to know Frizell was coming from behind and likely to get there, I cant blame him for that, he scrambled and was desperate to get there. unfortunately he didn't quite make it, but you. Can't blame him for that. With the one of the kick, it was clearly knocked out of his hands, so again, a good play by the Qld defensive and not really anything you can totally bag Jennings for, it wasn't a brain explosion or total fuck up on his part.
That aside, he has run for more metres than any back other than Inglis in the game, he didn't shirk his job or taking some hard metres and those metres came at a greater distance per run than any other back.
Look, it was one of those nights for him that he would rather forget, but I can forgive him that effort far more than I care to forgive the selfishness of the likes of Gallen and Bird and the cancerous attitude they bring to the side or the blind naivety Daley brings. I don't think Jennings will be dropped for game 3, I'm not sure who is a better attacking option on the left side for game 3.

Re: State of Origin Game 2
I heard Mad Dog knock Goulds comments this morning saying this is our problem, that we blame players and that Qlds success is built on their loyalt and that they pick and stick blah blah blah. I'm so over that thought process, it's the reason we have been soooo poor for so long, not the other way around.
After losing three straight series Qld made a number of changes and blooded some key players in game 3. Throughout that 3 series loses they made a stack of changes and NSW very few early. That 3rd series loss for Qld was the start of the era of Thurston and Smith, and quite frankly you won't find two better players to have played the game, if they wear Blue, then the results simply reverse themselves. It's very easy to show loyalty and have a pick and stick mentality when you are winning. Interestingly, Qld made 7 changes for a dead rubber game three in 2014 after being Hayned, but I just can't see NSW making the necessary changes in game 3 this year.
This is not a knock on Qld, they have been fortunate to have in my view now, possibly two of the best 3 players I've ever seen, they are a great team, but if NSW continue to think it's the picking and sticking and loyalty that got them there and needs to be emulated, then they have their head so far in the sand it's not funny. But one thing you won't ever here from NSW after a bit of adversity and some serious losing is that "Origin is dead". Only the lowest of the low would ever suggest that.

Re: State of Origin Game 2
The stats (using NRL.com figures) certainly make interesting reading from the game.
Take the props for both teams:
Name, Runs(M), Tackles
NSW:
Aaron Woods, 13 (116m), 29
James Tamou, 4 (34m), 18
David Klemmer, 7 (64m), 17
Andrew Fifita, 8 (48m), 26
QLD:
Matthew Scott, 10 (86m), 17
Josh McGuire, 13 (117m), 16
Jacob Lillyman, 11 (93m), 17
Josh Papalii, 12 (137m), 14
To be fair, both teams give the players slightly different minutes (QLD played both starting props ~40min and bench props ~30min, NSW played Woods for ~50min and the others for ~30).
However, that to me reads as QLD getting plenty out of their engine room with the bench maintaining the momentum, which you can't say the same for NSW.

Re: State of Origin Game 2
gal will be picked form game 3 but i do think a dead rubber is a chance to give a few people a run and as much i do appreciate the effort gal has put in over the year, he has 1 series win to show for it, a dead rubber send off needs more then that
as everyone knows, i'm usually a pick the best 17 guy but its a dead rubber in NSW, now is the time to throw a few new players in and give them a taste as they will be needed next year
jennings had a shocker but i'd still keep him, he's still NSW best centre.
Assuming Arey and cordner are out
1 Tedesco
2 Mansour
3 Jennings
4 BJ
5 Walker - penalties aside, i think he did a good enough job to not get dropped, switch him to wing so BJ gets a run.
6 jack Bird - i don't think he has a future as an origin halve but i don't think other NSW halves should be gifted a jersey when none have performed for it, playing bird here give us the chance to play a forward who does deserve the chance
7 Maloney
8 Woods
9 Peats
10 Fifita
11 Friz - only NSW play would feature in top 5 player last night imo, immense debut, proved me wrong
12 Jackson - universally bagged selection by NSW fans but has been in our top 5 both games
13 Graham - could probably switch with friz in terms of left/middle
14 Klemmer
15 Carty
16 James - have never bought the origin hype before but this year he is actually playing well enough to deserve it
17 Peachey

obviously QLD dominated possession last night too. their better kicking game, less errors and less penalties is always gonna result in more numbers for their props (especially when taking into account also more kick off, drop outs which are often boosting number with easy yards etc)
but they did win the battle all night, papali & mcguire were in particular easily better then anything we offered

Speaking of Euros Welshy, keep an eye out for Mummy and Daddy Milchcow who will be at the Round of 16 game against Northern Ireland
