Rookie year? That is some massive luck if true...Maybe it's just skill...

Hard to get that lucky in 2 comps. Maybe you get lucky starting with a great team in both comps but if it isn't skill you'd soon drop down the rankings.

Where are you ranked, Rabs? I'm having a howler too. Reckon I will drop outside the top 2,000 this weekend. Sad

Something weird about having your captain play in the first game.

I like to have 400-600 points on the board from 8-10 players first and then have the captain come along and really get things going.

Makes no difference I guess but I think it's nice to have a mid-late round captain rather than a first game bolter.

It's like an ace up the sleeve for later rather then playing all your good cards right away...

Its the fear that if your captain has a stinker first game up then it puts a bit of a downer on the rest of the weekends games. Well for me anyway

Agreed. I also would prefer to fall a little behind in the rankings early and come home with a full head of steam. I hate getting let down when I start the first few games smashing the rankings only to watch my rank in free fall in the last game or 2.

Lol this is how I describe myself after a few beers.

Scouter and you have nailed it though SI, it's all about getting the weekend off to a strong start and then finishing with a bang. JDB is going to be different though, hes going 80+ tonight

Actually you're better off having your captain in the first game as it allows you to tinker before lockout starts knowing their playing status. Ideally you'd have your C and V playing early in the round.

Yeah, that's best case scenario you're right. In my instance in general I like to fall behind at the start and advance late, I guess regardless of when my Captain plays.

I reckon a bit of both. Chance determines what opportunities a player gets to generate fantasy points and add to your weekly score. Every score is a fluke by definition. Take the same players and play the match again and you will get a different outcome every time.

Trades are essentially a guess about the future. You get 25 initially and then 30 or so for the season. Only hindsight shows if a trade was good or not, that's luck.

The skill side is in fitting in as many players as possible under the salary cap likely to score highly relative to the other players available in their position, growing your salary cap and determining the value of holding or using a trade in a given week.

All the same a great achievement to place so highly in 2 comps with no experience to build off, well done cheer

Being close to the 4k standings in the overall comp, and getting Eliminated in round 1 of the Eliminator by the Bundah Boys... my focus is on winning the H2H leagues I'm in.

    Currently
I'm ranked 6th in NRLFF L7 with a relatively easy game this week

I'm ranked 2nd (equal points to 1st) in my workplace league, playing the top ranked workmate

Hopefully I can pull off a win in both leagues

    Speaking of early captains.

If anyone is captaining De Belin (or anyone playing tonight) please also select a VC playing tonight too. Doesn't matter who it is, as long as they are in your 17.

No point needlessly locking in a VC and restricting any trades/swaps if you know for sure your captain's score will be counting.

Putting the C on Fifita this round, even with a dodgy foot he will hopefully still power through the points! Laugh

I have exactly 17 players in my squad, the most likely late inclusion is Herman easy E who I would know before tonight's game if he's in or not.

Would be stupid of me not to loophole right?

I have Hunt but I don't trust him in the slightest way atm.

    I'm thinking JDB(vc), Mannering(c)
