2017 Brisbane Broncos Thread - we hate them for their freedom

So foxsports reckon the hunt thing is a done deal.

With bennett's history of bringing in players he has coached before - It wouldnt shock me if he brings Tyrone Roberts to the bronco's this or next year.

Other options I guess are moving Milf to 7 and moving boyd to 6, or bringing nikorima in?

Nikorima maybe, but I can't see the other two happening. I'm guessing they'll bring in a half. Boyd or Kahu could easily adapt to 5/8 IMO, but I couldn't see either or Milf being able to play half. I would guess an organising half like Taylor or Widdop. Not saying it'll be those guys, just that it'll be like that. I'd take Shaun Johnson if he's of contract though. If I had to...

Does Bennett drop Hunt like he does anyone else that signs elsewhere? You'd have to say no. He's still the best option for the Broncos. I can see the Broncos making a play for bringing back Ash Taylor. They did the right thing by him by not holding him back and I think he'll appreciate that.

Tyrone Roberts will be there soon for sure imo lol
Remember he was in the newcastle side that fell 1 game before the gf. Not to mention he is a goal kicker too

Has he done that for anyone other than Justin Hodges? Because if like Hodges replacement the alternative option is a guy that ends up playing 23 times for QLD and 26 times for Australia starting from next season, that would be pretty good.

No real thought put into that as a serious suggestion. Just thinking of contrasting styles.

He didn't do it to J Wallace you would think Hunt has a bigger role in the team then Wallace ever did

Jeez that forward pack is not the strongest. Personally, I would be playing McGuire at 13 and letting him play big minutes. Glenn to split time with Joe O, and Pangai/Thaiday to play front row. Gillett plays 80. Arrow comes from the bench.
Dont need Nikorima on the bench either. Sims either starts in the front row or at 13, or has a bench spot over niko

I'm not a fan of picking a side based on set formulae.
I don't like it in cricket and I don't like it in League either.

If your best two halves options are both flashy type players, then you look to build your team and game-plan around that - particularly if you have other organising type players in the team at hooker and fullback.

The risk with the other alternative is that you bring in a organising type half and it turns out to be someone like Hodkinson.

You could have shortened that to "he's shit", but I see you had some free time one your hands ;-)

Nah it's something that has irked me for a while now and somewhere along the way it's been assumed you need to pair a flashy half with an organising one.....plus have a utility on the bench and a ball playing fullback among other token selections.

Fair enough. I was more thinking along the lines that Brisbane lacked a bit of structure and a good kicking game - both of which someone like Hodkinson brings. Not the cookie cutter "organisational half" just because MILF is flashy.

Can't believe I"m devoting so much time to a guy I think is pretty damn useless! :-/

That's a pretty harsh critique of OSM. Sometimes what he says has some thought behind it.
