But yes, I'll be planning on trading out soon. See how he goes this week in what is a full strength pack for minutes/workload.

But assuming he doesn't sustain points then its an ideal time to bring in Bodene or Whitehead. I might think about Surgess too.

Whitehead can maybe wait a week in Fantasy but in this comp bringing him in before his next game is best bet.

Looking at cash, if this week goes well for me might be able to do PKaufusi and Hess for Whitehead and Bodene

That would give me a similar pack to yours of

    Smith McCullough
    Gallen McGuire FKaufusi (Musgrove)
JDB Bodene Whitehead Wallace ET (Yates)

Also thinking this week about Moga to Ponga (as cashout with potential origin fill-in) or maybe bring Slater in

Nice mate, yeah thanks for the info.

yes I think I got your NRL.com fantasy price predictor working for VSDT so that is a real help in terms of planning!

I'll bring in Ponga as soon as he is due to start again. Until then I feel I can wait on him. He only gets you one game in Origin right?

Do you have any thoughts on Simpkins mate?

As for Slater, Im pretty keen on him aye. I've watched him closely his two games back and he has looked to get very involved which is the main reason I like him. I reckon he is gonna average 40+ or high 30s at worst (bugger all attacking stats yet: no try, no LB, etc). For that price I reckon he is a must have despite the injury concerns and Origin duty. And by the time Origin comes around I reckon I'll have the $ to get a decent replacement.

    Not real keen on Simpkins.

He's really just covering injury, and once everyone is fit he'll be on the bench or out of the sqaud altogether.
On the bench probably worse as he'll be scoring sub 20s and need trading out.

Not a good enough scorer for me to want him in for a few weeks.

OK cheers. I might have to revisit that trade then.

Thanks mate, do you know much about Simpkins? Is he likely to get a bench spot once they have their full team on the park? Or is he reliant on a couple of those key injuries (Hayne and Peats primarily I guess)? Even if he has done his dash by the time Peats comes back he will have hopeful played 5 weeks and made enough cash for it to have been worth it. Use that money later to make an upgrade or two prior to Origin.

I had simpkins back when he was starting lock for titans, he tackles well but tended to miss a few, as his minutes dropped that's where his value came from.

I would say that peats and hayne would have little effect on whether simpkins stays, it's all up to his form, but they have recruited the likes of passi, wallace etc. that play similar positions so there is a lot of competition.

Cheers for the info mate. Just re the Hayne/Peats injuries, while I know bugger all about the Titans isnt it the injury to Hayne that sent Roberts to fullback and opened up the hooker spot of Simpkins to fill? So my logic was that if either Hayne or Peats come back the starting hooker spot would be taken from Simpkins.

So much competition for places in teh back row in the titans, and some decent quality Im not sure I see him getting much time there at all based on team lists to date: Paasi and Pulu look to be preferred at 13 and McQueen and Proctor have got the edge positions locked down. Even Greenwood is probably ahead of Simpkins right?

Its hard to say with Simpkins and job security.
Hayne's return might push Roberts back to hooker, or Simpkins might stay there with Roberts to bench.
Peats coming back would certainly be bad for him.

They also have Grevsmuhl coming into the team and I think he'll be top 17 whenever fit.

    Thanks mate.

By the way, do you ever use a rule: if its not a trade in NRL.com, then it isnt a trade in VSDT? I guess what Im getting at is that in NRL.com Simpkins is barely talked about, and so the only reason Im considering him here is the 2 week buff in pricing. Im just wondering if that can become a bit of a trip up in this game. The price rise in most cases wont be that great if they dont play much again, and then perhaps the trade wasnt worth it.

Of course there will be some obvious exceptions, perhaps Hess this year, but Im speaking more generally and in particular about bottom dollar CCs.

The main difference for VSDT and NRLF trades is that I will almost never trade in a rookie before he has played 2 games in VSDT, whereas in NRLF you have to make the call early as to whether they'll be good or not.

For example in VSDT it was much easier to get on the Hess train, and avoid the Abbey trainwreck because of the pricing system.

You get 2 freebie looks at a player so best to use them. Only reason you would pull the trigger early would be if you thought the points were too good to pass up. if you needed the cash for another trade, or if you already have 2 trades you want to make the next week so have to bring one forward to fit them all in.

The 2 free looks make it easier to get the big cash cows here
The pricing system is also more volatile on VSDT - so its easier for players to jump in price after a couple of big games. But conversely they'll drop cash a lot quicker too afterwards. So it makes timing trades more of an issue.

But other than that, once someone has played 3 games - its a pretty similar thought process for trades between the 2. Depends on cash available and current injuries/suspensions/duds in your team.

Quick question - does anyone play VSDT Super Rugby fantasy here? Perhaps unlikely but worth the ask. I'd love to throw around some ideas if there is anyone. Different thread of course. Will set one up now on the off chance. Cheers.

I tend to be a conservative player so the extra two weeks to look at a player helps a lot. Over in NRLF i often miss the boat on a cash cow altogether or pay overs having missed the first one or two price rises.

The other thing to keep an eye on is different player positions from NRLF and sometimes real life (eg Kelly) and different DPP combinations eg SMat is a dual WFB-2RF. I always understood they based positions (including DPPs) on what the clubs told them.

If anything VSDT seems to be more generous with DPPs. And they manage to have players listed (or added) far more reliably than NRLF eg CHN, TRD. Ironically given you can afford to wait for the price rise in this comp.

Thanks mate, yeah Ive gone off Simpkins as I can't see how he can hold a spot in the team, let alone the starting team, and anyone I trade in now as a cheapie I'd like to have prospects of adding to my bye weeks total.

Simpson is an interesting one. Im not sure how he will go moving forward though. He has big wraps which should mean he's the first to get time when chance come up, but that being said you'd think in a fully fit Storm team he will struggle to make the bench right? I mean when Tohu comes back Im thinking Stimpson gets shuffled out, with KBrom to the bench?

Im actually just making the one trade this week Lamb to Slater via Guth, and then holding a trade in case Ponga gets another start. Will be a nice downgrade and make picking up Whitehead and Thompson next round a certainty for me cash wise, whereas currently Im replying on price changes going in my favour...

So I got a bit fucked over with having to catch up work and internet being down still and couldn't make my Finucane to Lolo trade.

Any other candidates (Bodene?) Or should I just cut my losses

Bodene is the player I've been looking at as value. Good option I think
