I still don't think he'll be starting any time soon.

I think people are really overvaluing the fact that he ran fast at the Nines when demanding his selection.

When looking at mid-tier guys $200k-$400k how many points would you want them to improve by to be valuable? 5 points, 10 points, 15 points? Because I can see a few guys like Mortimer, Wallace, Saifiti who may only improve by 5-10 points.

    My general answer is...
200-300k: They need to make at least 100k in value.

300+: They need to have the potential to become premiums.

Of course that doesn't work out so easily. But if you're outlaying 300+ that's a substantial investment at the start of the season.

It's an added bonus if they fit well for the byes.

Junior Paulo has been suspended by the club for Round 1 (in relation to an incident in 2016).

Nice work SB, I will be laying out 300 plus for Gurgess hoping he will get to keeper stage , not expecting it overnight and will be watching the trials closely , might go out to Campbelltown on Saturday for a squizzy.

PS just saw the Souths line up a hell of a lot of young guys there , though Rochow,Gurgess,Clark,Jennings and Cherrington are included. Oh and Angus albino

Not worried about the injury concerns around G. Burgess? Like other than that his TBing ability make him a gun even from the bench.

Not too worried as yet mate, figure they will see how he pulls up after the trials but he would be behind in fitness but there is a bit of time before round one to get there yet.More worried about his handling errors Rolling Eyes

Manly's Trial team against the Souths

    1 Tom Trbojevic
    2 Jorge Taufua
    3 Dylan Walker
    4 Jonathan Wright
    5 Brian Kelly
    6 Blake Green
    7 Daly Cherry-Evans (C)
    8 Lloyd Perrett
    9 Lewis Brown
    10 Addin Fonua-Blake
    11 Frank Winterstein
    12 Curtis Sironen
    13 Jarrad Kennedy
    Interchange
    14 Cameron Cullen
    15 Brenton Lawrence
    16 Shaun Lane
    17 Billy Bainbridge
    18 Tom Wright
    19 Pita Godinet
    20 Peter Schuster
    23 Tom Amone
    24 Joey Lussick

Pretty much they've gone all out and named what is probably going to be their first grade side. No J Turbo, Lussick, Api or Myles (By all rights Myles shouldn't be in first grade on recent form but he'll be in the team for sure) so the forward pack will probably look a bit different plus Uate and Hastings aren't named but if you're interested in Manly players then this list will probably help give you a clearer idea.

The Titans are also in talks with Grevsmuhl as well.

I so not think anyone knows where he will play. If it is at prop then you would think him and Paasi would share minutes (around 40-50 each) with Pulu sharing with James (20/60) or something like that.

If he moved to lock then you have Taia (avg. 78 mins), Proctor (avg. 70 mins) and McQueen (avg. 70 mins) so he might get 50 mins with Taia on the bench. That would mean Pettybourne or an inexperinced prop on the bench.

I think they look stronger with Wallace in the prop rotation and McQueen/Taia at lock.

They also do not have Dougals/Shillington and only brought Wallace.

If Barrett see's Kennedy as a middle forward/lock then hopefully JTurbo stays at frontrow. This sits nicely with my current team as i have Kennedy and no AFB

COuld see something like this come rd1

    JTurbo
    Koro
    Myles
    Sironen
    Tapau
    Kennedy

    Hastings
    AFB
    Lane/Winterstien
    Lawrence

Agree, I'm looking at him closely. There's a whole list of players in the second row priced between 200-250k that could make some good coin. Picking the right ones is going to be hard

I think with the starting front rowers for manly to me it looks like they'll be jostling between them for the final bench spot for the full strength side

Shit mate, that forward pack is frightening to predict, I reckon big T. Sims gets a crack up in the Front Row easy. Mix in Leeson Ah Mau who is primed, Jacob Host who has massive wraps on him, Russel Packer had a great year last year. McGregor is going to be under the pump this year so lots of chopping and changing. For mine a no go.
