JT, SJ & Hayne were paid between $40K-$70K. As for those who chose not to attend because they weren't being paid ..........

Rather than over the hill players making token appearances, wouldn't it be cool to have like a Legends of League with retired players from all the NRL teams making up combo teams to play against each other over a weekend similar to the nines. Obviously it would need some planning, you would need a suitable time at the end of the season so you aren't competing against the NRL, you would have to televise it to make a profit with advertising etc. so a dedicated channel with nothing but repeats on it would be handy and if you were going to do it properly the players would need to be training now.

Rule that they must have retired at least 2 years ago.

There's blokes in their early 40's who played origin that are still pretty fit so you could go back in some cases nearly 10 years to fill teams.

Ellery Hanley looks like he'd still be fitter than 75% of the NRL.

Indigenous All Stars, Australia, NZ Maori, NZ, England, and Pacific Islands would be awesome! 2 Pools of 3 with 2 games on the Saturday, SF & GF on Sunday.

They played a few legends type matches in the 90s.

Mix of legends, celebrities and possibly a few current players.
Don't remember much about them.

AFL and cricket had a few as well. Fatty took his screamer in one of the cricket ones

Remember there was a random played for each team who bought a spot in an auction for charity or something.

Yep think that was the case and maybe a young up and comer or two.

By far the mpst memorable moment though was Sparkles McGaw taking the game too seriously and ending up in a punch on with Big Mal.

One of my only memories of the games is Big Dipper nailing an AFL style 'conversion' from the sideline and being given 6 points for it.
