More risk but more reward given his BE and price.
If he can bang out a 40+ on every major bye that 120 points will be invaluable
Think he is capable of much more, will want that origin jersey back

    Round 12 Results

Well the first round is over and it was action packed. After burning through 2 trades on Brown and bleeding cash I looked at ways to strengthen my team and make some moves.

    Trade review
After tossing up Friend I opted to go Farah (after drinking admittedly). It came down to 2 points, one I needed the extra 100k to allow me more options to finalize my team (Halves)
and the second I felt that the 3 major byes he played and the potential $$ would allow me less of a jump back to Smith.
36 was less that I was expecting, hoping he can lift after the bye as with the poor loss who knows what Madge will do.....
Radradra played well off limited attack so he was great and looks to be back to playing well.
Gallen was epic in probably his best game of the season, him being captain was probably my best call of the round too.

    H2H
Congrats to Miracle Workers on the win, I don't usually pay attention to H2H as I play for overall but with the limited footy I notice the Friend trade (which proved the difference).
Well done on making the move mate Smile

    Injuries
Seem to be ok on this front *knock wood*

    Form
Well all the big guns who I need firing are performing alright, though the type of players they are means they have high ceilings.
Nikorima is now a trade with a high BE and playing off bench, Frawley may not last long either with reports of Reynolds being close (and started making money too..damn)
C Walker is probably now my main worry, very poor game from him which is a worry and will be one to monitor.

Overall probably just above par for the first bye round, look forward to bring in two more keepers this week and having a big one

Haha yeah, wasn't expecting that after not owning Johnson and changing my mind on the Friend trade.
Decided that a lot would target round 12 as a bye round then get caught out after, so planned to keep an even amount over all the byes and only bring in 'under priced' players.
So bonus to make that much ground on that round Smile

Looking similar to above ,so a minimum of around 12-13 for both rounds

    Future trades

    1) Whitehead to Taumalolo  though may go to Vaughan/James moving Taupau to 2RF
Allows me to downgrade Tetevano to a DPP nuffie and lets me cover the FRF with Taupau moving back if needed.
I could gamble on no short term injury to Taupau/Fifita but DPP gives me a safety net with low trades....
Either way, any of those adds one to major bye round

    2) Frawley to Cleary/Tedesco/Rapana/Nofo
Either bring in a cut price half or move Walker to the halves and bring in a WFB keeper
Unsure at this stage but get another week here to think about it.

    3)Farah to Smith
Nothing further to go into here

    4) Downgrade Tetevano (bye friendly cash out or kill off spot with a DPP 138k player)
If he doesn't return and I gamble with no DPP he may remain, need to find some coin for Smith upgrade.

    5) Downgrade of CNK or a cow to fund Smith Upgrade

    6) Downgrade/Upgrade of Jennings to either a WFB keeper or cut price half with Munster moving back to WFB

Leaving me with 4 trades to cover me for major injuries for the year. But team will be set

Had planned on Tetevano but looks like he may be on the outer (or playing reserve grade until rd 18 where he is needed by the roosters)
So maybe get 1 more for a round there if I am lucky

I had 15 in round 12 and skyrocketed up the leaderboard. What do you think par is in the non major byes (13/16/19). 17? 15?

I think quality over quantity to be fair and it's about finding the balance.
As you get higher up the ladder the more you will need, but I scored average compared to everyone here last round but jumped up a
    lot
Probably because the average player will focus on week by week and possibly stuff themselves in the run home or the later byes.(If they bother with byes at all)

I reckon if you average 13 per round overall you will be fine, but depends on trades left as I have to focus on getting my team settled now.

Just weigh up who you bring in:
If they have had one bye then they only have one remaining so that is great +1
    If they play 15 or 18 +1
If they are under priced due to injury/form but have bottomed out +1
If they upgrade a cow or player into a keeper +1
Cash out to a bye player who will disappear later +1

Not rocket science and perhaps this helps balance your team to min/max who comes in if (when weighing up similar players).

I mentally do this, but it helps sometimes working out what you want from the player, what is his role in your team and how does he impact it later on
Plan ahead a few weeks (within reason).

Anyways I don't have really many luxury trades and I am almost set, though I may get a couple more around round 20 if I can get through unscathed.

    Hey booze,

What's your position on taking a punt if you have 19 remaining trades.
Really considering a gamble on Merrin and Edwards.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I am bringing in Merrin this week if that's any indication haha.
Think he is decent value for the potential to put out a decent score.
Given the panthers injuries and he only has one bye left too, should get plenty of game time.
Also with the NSW win, failing a few injuries he is down the pecking order so unlikely to get called up

Edwards is a tough one, same byes as above but job security is something to consider.
Think he is worth a punt given your trade quantity, though may need to trade him later so consider that too

Cheers buddy, Atm am going Whitehead > Merrin.
Just don't know who to trade out for Edwards is the problem. Cotric, Hayne (origin affected), RTS have a bad bye schedule from here. Could just get rid of Abbey lol.

Abbey wouldn't be so stupid, if you have the cash then at least Edwards gives you an extra body for the next 7 weeks for say 40k.
I went Abbey to Radradra last week doing the same thing, worst case he may prove good enough to remain. Hayne I will leave as cover for CTR (especially with upcoming DPP)

Oh I have 400k (post trades about 320k) lol, don't know if that changes things.
Lucky they both play late in the week. Will see how my captains loophole shapes up first. If I bring him in I won't be able to use it as it will give me 18.

    Cheers for the advice.

Hey Boozey. After 12 rounds, how are you feeling about this season compared to last season?

Last season you had a horrific start, but came back incredibly well to finish in a very high position. This season, you started off well at the beginning, but then you slipped a bit and now you are only just starting to move back up the rankings.

How do your ranks compare after 12 rounds between last season and this season?

Hey SI I feel I am sitting OK though have had to trade hard again with some smart trades over rounds 6-12
Compared to last year I am in a worst position in every stat but I actually feel my team is more complete now.
I am a couple trades from having a final 17 (by choice letting Frawley/Niko max out) and refining a couple other positions.

The difference has come down to mainly not owning Hess/Ponga which did massive damage via points and $$$$
Also starting with Mcinnes over Pritchard/Brailey means while I got some points I missed on a lot of cash there too.
Meant my team had to go light in other positions. This has also been the year of the mid ranger with most guns dropping big cash so perhaps gambling on players may have been smarter too.

With the way scoring suits 'Tackle Breakers' this year, it means I have had to shift my team using a different mindset as well, will see if this works out in the end.

But look, at the end of the day it's about working with what you have been dealt, not making excuses and having fun. What's keeps us coming back is what keeps it interesting and I am sure we have some more twists and turns still to come.
