    Wishful thinking

Do you think they'd give Whitehead DPP based on round 1 team lists if he is named there.

Would be crazy if so - and would probably just slot him into everyone's final 17 for whenever he moves back to the forwards.

2 tries in his 4 games doesn't help his average either.

That's usually the process based on last year. If Whitehead is named in the ctr's round 1 surely he gets dpp.
If Soliola is named in the 2fr or someone like Tapine they'll be very enticing. The potential problem being if the Raiders decide to move Whitehead back to the pack in round 2.

Soliola if he gets 80 on edge or 60 at lock is enticing. I've been looking at getting him in all week

the DPP process is still a bit adhoc and there is no actual written rule about what they can and can't do.

I don't think they should avoid giving someone DPP for the sole reason of turning that DPP would player into a must have (and Whitehead would be a must pick CTR once he returned to the forwards). But giving DPP to a guy who would clearly just be a temporary fill in is going to create that situation.
Its a bit different to giving DPP to guys like McGuire, Cotric who look to be genuinely misclassified.

Still Fanhub are the guys that made Cam Smith a half on the basis of an internet campaign, so we can only wait and see what happens.

I get why people are picking him, I mean how often do you know a guy called Bunty? Imagine being called that!
But apart from that I don't see it, not at that price.

I compared my Twin Cam team to a potential Smith/Brailey team and compared the scores. Pretty even...
There is a less risk running the twin cam team for round 1, it will give me a chance to see how Brailey goes and which 2RF potential gun to bring in (McGuire, Buhrer, or...)
If McInnes starts scoring 60+ he will probably stay in my team though Basketball

Holmes/French/other is giving me a headache.

Holmes potentially out (though I could hold him the week), French has all the makings of being a dud, but gut feel also saying he can rack up points. I don't have the money to spend higher than those two, without hurting another position (unless I run dual cheapies at ctr, got Dylan Walker there at the moment)... and nor do I want to run a cheapie at wfb..

same dilemma, rationalised mitchell with increased defensive duties, more likely to tb than the other two. and if he can sniff a try he will back himself... every time

wont get the run mtrs carrying the ball back. but if he can mimic aitken, thats 100k there in the ctrs.

in saying that i do have the money to go to guth if i want so thats another question for me...

Both pretty even but I'd go French as he won't play origin. Holmes has a chance for origin.

The DPP duplicity is really annoying me because I would like to run with L.Mitchell in my centres. Nobody would ever use a WFB slot for CTR, so he is the one who would actually need and warrant the auto-DPP straight up when named there tomorrow. I am thinking of emailing fanhub just to remind them of the other people Like Wallace who got DPP for positions they had never even played in and likely never will, all because of a trial team.

I turned the Holmes/French dilemma into Turbo.

Gutho, Turbo and Fergo spring to mind from last year.

With an extra 50k you can get Gutherson. He'll be a very consistent scorer at wfb.

    at least this year...
Gutho is using a WFB slot for a half (which I have in my team btw)
Turbo is using a WFB slot for a WFB, or a CTR slot for a WFB (which is the opposite, and quite welcome version of my conundrum).
You got me, you with Fergo- you can put him in WFB if you want. But I would not advise it, because....

Is anybody else playing it safe to start the year or just going all out balls to the wall?

Are many as tempted as me to not select a couple of the non appetizing 138k guys and picking a couple based on your own predictions of injury and/or form dips ?

I have had a team where I could tuck that half a million away in the bank again. I pretty much got rid of it yesterday and have spent most of the cap now. Allthough I would love to take the road less travelled again this year.
