Jarrad Kennedy should get good gametime at lock this week you would think. JTurbo to play 80 with Lawrence/Myles at prop also.
Should mean Sironen and Winterstein see 80 mins. Who will the 2 other bench forwards be?

As a knights fan I'm going to reluctantly agree with you there. I thought Phythian was great....put in a few good kicks and did a fair bit of kicking in the trials too. Gutted for him. I can't stand Brown. Worst. Coach. Ever.

With respect he doesn't exactly have a great squad to work with, not even Bennett could fix the mess they were in.

The Moga trade fucks my DPP at the back, but I'd then have, Moga, Cotric, Suli, Kelly, Idris, Talakai, Jacks, Elgey, Frankenstein, Yates and Kaufusi.  Too many cows haha?

Pretty much the same cows as me, except you have one more in Talakai. Although you have gone with Kaufusi and I'm not sure why I went with I Papalli. Front row cows are under 200K are very uninspiring although Welch, Matagi, Gubb appeal a little.

If Mannah can keep up his form from the weekend wouldn't be the worst pick up with the byes in mind.

How can you not like what Brown is doing in Newcastle? He is building the squad the right way, he didnt go the quick fix last year and buy a heap of over priced old guys looking for a last pay check he blooded the promising youth then found guys like Elliot and Barnett on cheap deals. He has cleared out a few over priced players (got lucky with Mullen but also got the feeling he was going to be moved on after this year). Has made good player positional moves and solid recruitment (Buhrer, Starling) and his recruitment of Ponga is a big win. I love that he hasnt gone for a quick few cheap wins, that he has built a foundation and is teaching these young guys how to play.

He was already very busy in that 75 minutes on the edge averaging 32 tackles and 125 metres. I predicted him at around 60 minutes per game at lock so would expect him tackles per minute to increase but his metres per run to be slightly down. With Phythian going down injured Sione moved to the backs and Barnett came back on the edge. Yates was already on the field at this point playing lock. Hard to tell if Barnett was due back on at any point since he came on as a direct replacement for Phythian. If Barnett manages to play a similar amount of game time(65+) and put up some decent base stats(45 tackles) then he will be my number one trade priority. But I would not be trading him in off the back of a score in increased minutes that involved attacking stats and kick metres

Thanks MS for your attempt to keep his ownership down. I, as a new Barnett owner, really appreciate it

I like the way he's going with the squad....I've just never rated him as a coach anywhere. Or as a player for that matter.

I personally think Brown is doing a great job at Newcastle blooding in the local talent and there is no doubt they are on the up. They had a lot of overpaid players who aren't very good on backended deals.

I've never rated Bennett. When he was at the Broncos he basically had origin & Australian rep players. Fair enough he won a premiership at the Dragons but they still had a roster of rep players. Then as soon as the Dragons were on the decline he bailed to the Knights & then he bailed on them as well when things got tough & worse still he left a real mess at the Knights. It's easy to be a super coach when your team is littered with stars but when it got tough Bennett showed his true colours & walked out. I lost all respect for him when he did that be cause morally & ethically he came up way short of the mark.

Surely with Manly's forwards depth shot at the moment, it can't mean good things for Turbo?

I don't know if much more has been said about Mannering but it seems as though he will be fine to play on Friday

Warriors back-rower Ryan Hoffman said both Mannering and Luke had pulled up well today and it's expected they will be named in coach Stephen Kearney's initial 21-man squad tomorrow.

"I saw both of them this morning and they were certainly moving a lot freer," Hoffman told Radio Sport's D'Arcy Waldegrave.

"We're certainly very hopeful that they're going to be all right for Friday but it's only round two as well, so we don't want to risk any long-term damage for them.

"But if they're a chance of playing you'll definitely see them out there on Friday."

Broncos/Cows this week, not much of a punter but are there betting options for golden point?

    From Broncos Training……..
10:30am: That’s a wrap from Red Hill this morning. The squad trained strongly and took the session very seriously ahead of Friday’s derby clash with the Cowboys. The only small concern from today’s session was Josh McGuire who is understood to be “tight” through the legs. Broncos said his recovery training was just precautionary and he should be fine for Friday. He had some hamstring issues in the pre-season. Tautau Moga returned to training after a health scare on Sunday while Benji Marshall (achilles) filled in on the bench in McGuire’s absence.

the Knights have plenty of backs to cover for injury...

Smat, Buhrer, and Barnett are core players in the 2nd row this season, I don't see them dropping Smat to the Centres in Team Lists, only during game-time to cover for injury.

    Yeah, Tom.

Winterstein is a tough one, looked decent, but who knows about his job security.

Phyth to Suli would be a fine trade. Phyth ain't coming back.
