Take a punt on Hess and bank the coin?

What are you going to do SpotTheOzzie?

    ummmm...yeeaaahhh

Not sure at the moment Wolfie. My Halves are up the clackers at the moment. If Jacks gets named to start by some Xmas Miracle I might just deal with it and put on Algy/Jacks. If he isn't, well I'm going to consider Cartwright to Milford and reverse Idris to TRD. Not the ideal situation mate.

    Good luck!

Holy fuck, that is some bad luck with the halves.

If reports are true and Coote has a torn calf then the recovery period is estimated between 4-6 weeks.
Let's say he's back in 3 - is it enough for Ponga?

For scoring yes, for making cash no

It's enough for him if he scores 50 each week.
Is it enough if he scores 30 each week?
Ryley Jacks has had two weeks of 41 and 34. All of a sudden he's either not playing or on the bench where he might get single figures and struggle to make any more cash.

is $60-70k worth the two trades if this happens?
Would people have picked Jacks if they knew then what they knew now?

Are we certain Ponga will keep others out of the Cowboys 17 while Coote is injured?

    That's the gamble.

Where does this idea that Ponga is going to be a 50 point scorer come from? Watching him at the 9s where everyone breaks tackles? In his 2 finals games last year where he "killed it" he scored 34 and 14 points

I'm torn between the same trades with Cartwright.  I like the idea of getting a set and forget guy like McGuire, but also with the money you bank, Hess could rise and could just about be a straight swap to JBrom or Whitehead.  You use an extra trade, but you have the money for an extra upgrade.

I know Jbrom is top 5 front rowers behind McGuire, Fifita and Graham with Vaughan and Wallace looking the next best options. By my calculations he will get to about $420,000 and is a good pickup.

However, do we even think Whitehead is a keeper? might take him a while to get back up to hitting 50s and if so his price around 380K might be where he lingers a bit.

This. with no Scott and Lolo the Cowboys are lucky they are coming up against shit sides or else they could have really struggled these two games. He will be like French a bit, but not quite as good yet. If he doesn't jag a try will be lucky to score more than 25 I would think.

If you're a risk taker bring Ponga in. The other day on a Cowboys forum they were saying 3-4 weeks out for Coote.

Just following up on this as this really affects my team where I'll have to make adjustments prior to tonight's kick-off if that's the case.

You're the only person I've seen say that Cartwright is out and I'm keen to know the reliability of this info.

    Cheers mate
It was James hooper on league tonight or something. They were talking up JFH starting

The same bloke that said Seggy is a done deal by Round 1?

Milchy links his B/E's on the front page of every thread mate. Crichton's minutes are the concern, not his potential.

With Abbey, I heard Tyrone Phillips was injured but can't find it. Phillips is a pretty solid player and Dogs had massive wraps on him a few years ago. What's the go if he isn't injured? Just out of favour?

I'm not sure on Crichton's mins. If he was starting it would be a yes from me.

Next 4 include home games against prop lite Manly Souths and Tigers when Lolo back and away to Titans next week. Couldn't ask for better fixtures

IIRC he is expected to be out for one more week. However you think Montoya would drop before Abbey as Abbey is kicking goals while Holland is out.

As a Thurston owner I am hoping he pumps out some 55+ scores over the coming month. Went with Thurston instead of Norman to start the year and was cursing myself after round 1 however Thurston should hopefully bridge that gap this round with Norman out due to his hammy.

Anything is possible but he would only be an injury away I am keeping a close eye on him and if I wasnt bringing in Hess it would be Angus.
