Still torn over moga, suli, idris or hayne to ponga. Which one mate or hold all four and miss ponga?

    Here's my team;

    Smith Brailey
    Fifita Wallace Musgrove Yates
Surgess SMat Hess Siro Frankenstein Kaufusi
    Norman Lamb Elgey Jacks
    Talakai Kelly Moga Idris
    Turbo RTS Cotric Suli Hayne

    246K in the bank.

Hayne is the easy answer in this scenario mate. That's a lot of money tied up in a NPR who is doing nothing for you at the current point in time.

Now, I understand the value of a trade and they are indeed the most valuable commodity in this format of the game. So you need to ask two questions. 1) did you buy Jayne with the impression that he would be a season long keeper that you want in your final 17? and 2) what's to say that Ponga doesn't make enough coin in the coming weeks to make that trade a viable option?

Is we base the value of a trade a 100k and Ponga is currently 166k then he needs to get to 266 to be worthwhile or 366 if you think Hayne is going to be in your final 17 and you trade him back in (I say 366 because it would effectively be two trades to drop Hayne and bring him in again later). Personally, I don't think Hayne will be anywhere near my final 17 and I also don't think he'll make as much money as Ponga could POTENTIALLY make (game time permitting of course).

The other option is Idris. I know people are saying he'll come good (and I think he probably will also) but he may also spend the next three months sitting on the pine while you wait for that to happen. Upside to holding Idris is a lot less stagnant money than Hayne, downside is that when Hayne does return he plays in a slightly more consistent position for a slightly less shit team.

Moga and Suli both have a BE of 15. I'd hold for at least this week.

Thanks Mearcats, bloody good analysis. It's either Hayne or hold, but can think about it overnight. Thumbs up. Hayne I have the same feeling about Idris, he could be out longer and he just sits there waiting to come good which may not happen. My gut feeling before the start of the season was that he was gonna flop and I wish I went with that. That might be the reason why I'm wanting to offload him.

I expect Wardle to nail down a CTR spot for Newcastle when he has his match fitness back, decent hard working player

So does that mean I pull SMat and put in Yates? What are the chances of Wardle coming on at C and Smat moving to 2RF to spell Yates?

Pretty high I reckon might be a straight swap with Wardle and Yates, Wardle has played plenty of 2RF he is a big lad

With Wardle on the bench what's the go with this. Does he spell Yates during the game & Sione to 2fr. What sort of mins will Yates get.
Also would Brown change the run on side just before they take the field & start Wardle at ctr with Sione back to 2fr & Yates bench.

    Smith / Kritchard
    Wallace / Faufusi / Matagi / Hoare
    Surgess / JDB / Moeroa / Yates / Sata'uita / Sironen
    Norman / Moses / Lamb / Jacks
    Dalker / Cotric / Kelly / Talakai
    RTS / Holmes / Suli / Hayne / Python

60k in the bank - thinking to only make one trade

I may be wrong but aren't you the one that is beating the Holmes drum pretty hard? And now you want to trade him out? I mean, I can understand that he's not playing FB and that's affecting his scores but that was a possibility to begin with and there's a very real possibility that he'll be at FB soon anyways. No, I wouldn't trade him out just yet (incidentally, I wouldn't have bought him in in the first place but that's just me.)

Moses to Field could work but it may also mean you kill off a spot for the foreseeable future. You have depth in your halves with Jacks and Lamb so you could do that. Surely Field gets a run soon, McCrone is as good at football as SI is at being a kent.

Also, I like the trade in ideas but maybe just slow ya roll a little. I don't think you need to bring both Whitehead AND JBrom in next week, especially when they may both yet lose more coin next week depending on how they go this weekend.

Tall and skinny is, if anything, make the Moses to Field trade this week. Watch Siro closely (he's pretty much peaked) along with the others and then shore up a position next week (I'd say your FRF is a lil light so start there, especially if Yates ties up a starting position for the next week or two).

    Hope it helps!

I'd like to know the answer to that too. Presumably the final 17 is nailed down now, but presumably prior to the start of the game positional changes can be made at any time, including subs to start? or is the latter not allowed?

SMat doesn't score too bad at CTR. He only had 2 80min games last year where his scores were below 20. Not too concerned, he should do better than most of the rookies we've seen in the centres over the last couple weeks.
In saying that... there's always the chance of a dud score.

    Yay for Yates

Outside back is exactly the place to play the fixtures and scores have proven such... even with Tedesco unfortunately.

I would expect Moga to improve against us but Kelly home to Bulldogs from from that lot
