He can and will. But Kahu jumped the gun and touched it too early.
It might be unlikely, but if it's still moving it might bounce across the line. The previous kick proved that

I think the rule should just flat be if ANYONE touches the ball before it goes 10m, penalty to the attacking team.

So the ref is like "its stopped but I'm gonna see how this plays out"?
Anyway you look at Its the wrong call but its not the first and with the nrl it certainly wont be the last

So you place a wall of players in front of the guy taking the drop kick and gain a penalty?
Unless i'm mistaken there is no rule as it currently stands that prohibits someone from standing within the 10m line before the kick. So you would change the current rule and introduce a new rule and in doing so, teams could no longer try and dribble a ball over the 10 and contest it, because all the attacking team would have to do is walk forward and touch it before it reached the 10. Why should the defending team be penalised in that scenario?surmo13 wrote:
of course not, the attacking team is not allowed to put anybody within the 10m line before the kick is taken, but if the player taking the kick shanks it and breaks the rules of the game, there shoudn't exist a scenario where he's rewarded for it.
