A pathetic 731 and now ranked around 12000. I'm letting the Fanatics name down and thinking about just tossing it in. Had Hess, brought in Bodene and Slater this week, left Musgrove and Cotric on the pine, and SMat I'm not expecting to play next week. Trying times.

While that is good, considering there is the Captain Loophole already. It would make it even easier/better to abuse it if you have a strong 18th man. It could definitely work if you didn't have rolling lockouts and just a shut out from Thursday night onwards.

Feels like this week I was rewarded for patience, with a couple of popular trade ins over the last couple of weeks either not playing or disappointing (Hess, Ponga, etc). Meanwhile, Siro, Idris, Graham, RTS and Fifi all got me good points despite a few weak opening rounds. A couple of those you would have been crazy to trade out, but a few of them many did.
Good stuff mate. Yep the waiting game & being patient separates the good fantasy players from the bad fantasy players. Since I'm impatient & trade rage too much I definitely fall into the latter haha.

The first platform to offer this will go a long way to ensuring my focus. Be it Fanhub or Vapormedia

There was someone thinking of trading Graham out who I told them not to on account of never sell keepers. Luckily they listened. Don't have him yet but good option for byes.
I did sell Siro last week. Honestly I just wanted to get Whitehead in a week early and ride off a still low ownership for a POD score. Instead Siro outscored him by 18-19 points and went up in value while Whitehead went down again.
Should have kept the faith but oh well hindsight is a beautiful thing.
Those you convinced to keep Graham owe you a after this round.
I was lucky I think, in that I didn't aggressively need to chase points to stay close to the leader, so I kept Siro one more round to see if his value would close on Whitehead's.

That is true because people will find ways to manipulate the system. I actually like what you suggested as I've never been a fan of the loophole or the rolling lockout. Go back to the old days but with the addition of the ranking system. Even if you had for example 3 of your 17 not playing you get the 3 top ranked npr's come in.

Haha, cheers mate. I've been avoiding trading until late in the week so far, when the rage has subsided and my head is clear.
It's far to easy to hate your team when you are watching all the players you don't have week on week.

Wouldn't this be abusable though? Hypothetically, wouldn't it be almost optimal to play someone like Ponga this week so I could set my reserve player McInnes as my rank #1 NPR.

What if you changed the captain rule so that if they don't play the seeded NPR that comes in becomes captain. That would basically eliminate the loophole altogether.

You get your lowest scoring reserve instead of the 0.
Hope you came through the cyclone alright.

To me the solution should be that you get the next best scoring player in the same position. That effectively mirrors what a real coach would do ie pick the next best WFB if the starting WFB pulls out. And would prevent deliberately targeting an AE as you wouldn't get a 2RF score if your CTR is a non-starter.

Playing Devils Advocate here but if that happened could you not just load up on forwards/halves instead of playing centres? Spend your money that way?

All they need to do is enforce positional requirements for your final 17.
No rolling lockout. No loopholes.
Its not rocket science. Fantasy premier-league has been doing it for over a decade.
