Pretty crap looking team without Matt Scott and Inglis I reckon. Props are a worry.

Others in the mix would probably be Will Chambers or Cam Munster at centre. As you say forwards pretty short.. you could see Jarrod Wallace get a call up or Gavin Cooper/Felise Kaufusi (Kaufusi was 18th man at one stage last year). I'd probably have all three before Guerra.

Its not really that bad, definitley need a gun FRF, Graham is a great choice.

Look to sart downgrading Yates, Elgey and the other cash cows. Probably wont need BJ at this point in time. If Idris keeps scoring how he did in the weekend it will be cheaper to do Idris - BJ in the long run, guess you might miss out on a big BJ score though.

As others have mentioned Jacks is probably a trade out next week, if not this week really. Team will look much better with Graham +  a gun HLF in there with SJ.

Thanks for your advice mate, yeah well this is my first year actually taking fantasy seriously and I ended up running out of cash last year and I guess I'm being a bit conservative this year lol. My rank is 2329 so I'm pretty happy with that at the moment.

I'll keep it simple then, what are the better trades for the long term prospects of my team.

Lamb to Hampton, Brailey to Macca. 42k in the bank.

Lamb to Hampton, Jacks to Aeynolds/Walker. 134-146k in the bank.

My HLF's doing the gun HOK trade would look like SJ, Jacks, Hampton and Frawley. Not exactly pretty viewing but on the other hand I'd have Macca.

I expect they'll run Papa at prop and have Cooper/Lowe in the side on the bench.
    Thaiday/McGuire could also play FRF.

Cheers yeah, I'm thinking Fifita, mostly because he has been a proven gun in the past and he is a tiny bit cheaper lol
If I go that way I should have enough for J. Bromwich next week too which would give me a team of this for next week. Then no more trades for a while lol

    A. McCullough, (B. Hampton)
    A. Fifita, J. Graham, (J. Bromwich)
    E. Whitehead, P. Gallen, S. Mannering (J. McGuire)
    S. Johnson, C. Norman
    J. Leilua, J. Idris
    J. Tedesco, R. Tuivasa Sheck, J. Hayne (K. Ponga)

Hopefully trade up Ponga to Dugan or similar when he reaches his peak and Hayne to the bench lol
How is it possible to get such a gun side in 6 weeks when everyone has the same salary cap to start? Are you associated with the Roosters or Broncos?

Cannot believe how judgemental some people are in their comments.

This time last year when everyone was getting behind the NZ Rugby and league players protesting the TPPA, SBW was overseas in Syria volunteering his time to help people in the war-torn country.

Fuck it pisses me off how white-bread some people really are.

Yeah mate, its talked about heaps on sports radio and even went as far as the PM making a comment on it.

IMO it is simply naivety and poor, perhaps no? advice from SBWs management that have caused this. Apparently he genuinely had no idea it would result in this much attention (Jeff Wilson talked with him straight after the game).

In general the reasoning for what he did seems to be well accepted over here - and so it should be. Its just how it went down that is the problem. He should have informed his employers, they could have planned accordingly, and he would therefore have gotten his modified jersey before the game, and it probably would have been weeks before anyone actually noticed. Instead he told no-one and used half inch thick medical tape. It blind-sided his employers and every man and his dog are now talking about it.

Anyway, its a storm in a tea-cup as far as Im concerned but everyone either loves or hates SBW so it was always gonna cause a massive outpouring of opinions both ill-informed and otherwise.

On the plus side at least a few ignorant kiwis are being educated through this Smile

My problem with the SBW thing is the rugby season is 7 weeks old yet he hadn't brought this up with anyone and got the approval and "clean" jersey from the sponsors before his first game. He just went and tapped it up. He should have also released a statement by now clarifying why he can't wear them. I don't believe players should be able to pick and choose they are professional sports people paid by the club who are paid by the sponsors.

Do we think Idris is starting to hit his stride? I thought he looked much better last week (at least he played the full 80), and I'm considering giving him a bench spot this week over Jacks

He might be up and down a little bit, but he's definitly improving... I was thinking of playing him over Jacks as well...

Once he gets some consistency I'll be looking at moving Smat out

I agree with the first part of what you say (he should have sorted this out ages ago - hence my naivety comment), but, to be fair all the NZRU contracted players have a conscientious objection clause so potentially they could all do something along these lines if they had the grounds too. Sponsors should do their DD and therefore know what they are getting themselves into (i.e. that this could happen) when they hand over their money. That being said ironically BNZ have undoubtedly benefited from all this publicity. They must be laughing all the way to the bank on this one Wink

other option is to go Frankenstein -> Chrichton, which would allow me to turf Kelly before he goes backwards, any basement price backs likely to play origin rounds?

Graham the better option for the next few months, all things being equal will Nett you a couple of hundred more points than Fifi with Origin.

Tough call. As a heavy bye planner I like the second option with Walker. If I was a gun getter I'd go first. So as much as that sounds like sitting on the fence, if it was me I'd go B with Walker, but most would say A I reckon.

I agree he should've been more transparent with his club and therefore the sponsor through the club but why should he have to release a statement? I honestly don't see how it has anything to do with the fans, it's not their choice and I doubt it'll effect his performances or how well he treats the fans. If the sponsors have a sleeve contract does it specifically state that every jersey must have that sponsor, is it implied? If they do and they don't like it, they should be asking for a "please explain" for the club or ask for compensation/damages.

He probably will release a statement clarifying it all but he doesn't owe it to anyone.

Then you have people in the comments sections of the NZ newspapers saying that he is doing it to radicalise youth (legit, someone said that and it had at least a dozen likes on that comment).

On a personal note, I can't wait for the day that gambling and alcohol advertising no longer infect sports and the codes can survive without their financial input. (though in saying that, I hope I can still buy a beer at the footy! Razz )

Bring on August in Melbourne for the new smoking laws too!

I don't see how he's not following the same rules as everyone else if they all have this contientious objection clause in their contract. He is choosing to act on it.

Fair call though, I will stick to fantasy in this thread.

Yep - the fact that there isn't a single pub or club open in Bundy on Good Friday really pisses me off. Generally Easter long weekend is a time when people come back home to see friends and family, but I can't watch the footy triple header at a pub with mates?
