If you take out games were Sione has had HIA or moved to centres then his average is respectable.

Of course if he keeps on getting HIAs or moved to centre then his average without them is meaningless.

But just like the black widow, he occasionally sucks you in with a big score, and then stuffs you the next week.

I agree with you mate - but one thing I'd add is that its nice in hindsight to look to guys like Cotric, Moga and even Suli, but in terms of job security there were question marks around all 3 at the start of the season as well as question marks around their PPG projections. With SMat most believed it was a relatively risk-free investment.

The other thing is quickly looking at the other 35+ average Cs outside the two mentioned above, only Lafai has had a net increase in value > SMat so that suggests that in some respects he was a better buy than most out there doesnt it? In hindsight from the start rolling with and continuing to roll with Moga, Cotric, and Suli would have been the best bang for ur buck though!

I think the issue with SMat is he has under-performed relative to the (pre-season) expectations people had on him as an 80 min 2RF. And with that in mind there is hope still he can hit those expectations for the remainder of the season. Perhaps that is not out of the question.

Anyway, that being said, if I had the trades I would be getting rid of him. Trouble is I cant justify burning another one at the C position.

Haven't posted for a while with life taking over and losing a bit of interest with round 12 trade ins of JGraham, Taukeiaho and CWalker. Sitting in 278th.

Only have 10 players for this week after this trade.

1st trade is TKO to JDB
2nd Trade is Idris to CScott (cash out)

3rd trade: Question is who would you sell out of Whitehead, JWallace or Merrin to free up 50K extra to get JDB and who would you get in (FRF or 2RF).

E.g Sell Whitehead $416K to someone that costs $50K less - Player X has to be $366K or less.

    Team would be

    Smith, McInnes
    Fifita, JGraham, McGuire, NPR
JDB, Surgess, Chricton, Merrin, Whitehead/JWallace, Player X
    SJ, Munster, NPR, NPR
    DWalker, Croker, Fuimaono, NPR
    Tedesco, Slater, RTS, CWalker, DEdwards

NPR's are Leota, May, Laybutt, CScott.

Thinking something along the lines of Whitehead to JBrom/E Lowe/D Alvaro etc. Think JWallace will be a good 18th man and DPP cover FRF/2RF.

Anyway, @Rabbit hard luck but I suspect I was right with the Kaysa Pritchard debacle. No way he gets to $420K now mate, was always an early HIA waiting to happen. Razz

Like most on here I'm considering Curtis Scott as a cash out this week. But I'll be waiting until the final team is named before I make the trade. A late switcheroo between Scott and Hawkins wouldn't surprise.

Yep I will most likely just trade in whoever starts. If both start at centre, I guess its a bit of a lottery as to who is then preferred for round 18 when Blair may be back.

@Warriors I wouldnt be ditching Merrin mate - before last week was looking great as a gun, byes done after 15.

I'd probably go Whitehead - averages less than Wallace, not DPP, and probably not good enough to be in most peoples final 17/18.

As for a trade out? Seems to me with the depth you have you could look to a  bye playing cash out option with the view to generating the cash to upgrade to guys like JTrbo, Taupau, Pearce, Rapana?

Yeah he does seem very similar to Aubs in that regard.

Im not a big fan of the "if you take away' argument in the cases that it happens multiple times. A one off injury warrants that argument, not recurring like this case.

I do agree with previous post, he doesn't hurt you. I guess I over looked that aspect.

They might both play with Tohu shifting back to the pack.

Merrin had 68 avg previous 4 weeks before dud score. I hope it's not because of breaking up with Sally

That's the point though isn't it? Just like with Graham his average actually getting through games is high. Problem is he obviously can't.

With Joe Wardle out injured, Sione ain't too far away from filling in at centre on a lengthy basis I say.

I was hesitating getting rid of Cotric so I looked at their draw & decided to sell & upgrade to Munster = broncos, cowboys, dragons & storm in the next 4.

Thanks mate - Yeah Whitehead to someone but no real cashouts that will score very well I feel.

This is a really good point that could happen.  Especially with Barnett back now and Buhrer coming back too.

True, the cash out, if they score bye round points would just be a bonus. It was the 5~10 points per round extra you might get from a future upgrade that I was angling towards. That would easily cover the score you would otehrwise get from a bye friendly mid-ranger that wont otherwise see ur starting team for the rest of the season.

@Warriors hey mate, was wondering where you went. you had good advice/opinions earlier in the year

on your trades. i think they all look very similar. personally i would lean towards alvaro with his consistent minutes and form looking steady

i went the gurgess route because he was a cheaper option than the other guys you mentioned. negatives are he only scored 23 last week, which doesnt bode well for the next two bye rounds + he also misses next week which could be an issue

not sure how youre travelling money wise, but if you did go this option you could possibly bring in taupau the following week which may work out better for your 17 in the long run.

there are 11 full rounds left to play excluding the byes (for manly, knights, panthers). so if you bring in a player from these teams that averages higher than 10 points of a current player eg. taupau over merrin/whitehead. it works out better than bringing in a 40 point player who only scores in your 17 for two bye rounds.

what im saying is gurgess could be a viable option over jbrom/alvaro if it gives you money to upgrade to a better gun next week. negatives are, he will be a poorer backup than the guys you mentioned

      Current date/time is Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:46 am
