Did you know Cameron Smith is an anagram of Storm Machine? Man's a robot and does not age like the rest of us. I can't see him being rested heading into the finals, and I'd absolutely get him if I could.

Go Refs wrote:NZ News tonight suggested the SJ maybe back before the end of the season. In was on TV walking freely without any support on his knee. ????
The nature of a PCL injury (or most ligament injuries) is that support doesn't really help. Time off the weight bearing limb is pretty much the only thing to repair strains and minor tears, ruptures usually require surgery and following that he definitely would have some form of support (usually a ankle to groin elephant skin).
I've had three complete knee reconstruction. When I did my first ACL the docs at my local hospital told me it was just a minor medial strain and that I'd be fine in a few weeks. I continued to play top side sport with it for three months before I finally got in to see a specialist. No strapping, no supports, nada. In a 15 minute consultation and a half an hour MRI my specialist was able to tell me that I no longer had an ACL. Full blown rupture, taking the top part of the bone with the ligament.
I certainly hope SJ is back earlier than anticipated, not for my fantasy team as I can't afford to have him sitting on a bench for two weeks at that coin let alone potentially 6, but for the sake of the WC. He's a legend, exciting player to watch and an integral cog in the Kiwi side. I just dunno why he's come back for one or two games is that could cause a problem when their season is already over.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 58
I have a vague recollection of C.Smith being rested in Round 26 in a previous season in which Melbourne already had the minor premiership wrapped up. 2011?
So I'm thinking that Smith MIGHT be rested in Round 26 this season if Melbourne has the minor premiership wrapped up. But I wouldn't bet my life on it, and I wouldn't want to miss having Smith in my team for Rounds 20-25, based on such intuitive speculation.

I'm not missing DCE's next 4 weeks points in the hope that SJ plays the last couple of rounds for me.
I now only have one trade left (with Merrin and Surgess in my team)

Ouch CD, that sucks bro. Was the DCE trade a necessity? Who are your other halves? Don't have Munster or Walker to DPP?

I could be wrong, but didnt the storm identify a few years ago that resting their guns in the final round/s can affect the teams cohesion & general momentum?

Other halves are Munster and Cleary and potentially Moylan.Mearcats wrote:

If I leave SJ on the bench I have to play Moylan or Fui. If Surgess is out I have to play one of them anyway. They are both nice for depth but DCE will outscore them by plenty. Happy to take the risk at this stage.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 58
Hey guys, been watching for a while (get some good ideas from you guys!), I'm in tricky spot and would like some thoughts.
I have only 5 trades left, decent side, but have both Merrin and SJ to get rid of, $87k ITB. Pearce is obviously a good swap for SJ, but doesn't leave me enough to get in the guys I want for Merrin, Gall or Fifita. The only guy I could get is J Turbo. Or do I get in a POD in like Hunt, which lets me get Gallen and have some $ left ITB for another upgrade (Likely Wallace to Taupau)??
So;
SJ -> Hunt/Someone $400kish & Merrin -> Gall/Fifita + Cash
or
SJ -> Pearce & Merrin -> J Turbo (No cash at all)
Gallen over Fifita all the way, right?
Thanks Guys

Gotta agree with R&T.
Saying they don't have the stamina/mental toughness at NRL level because they get bigger earlier in their lives? Mate, I played lower level league in West Auckland and everyone except our lily white ass punk team were twice our size. These guys are competing against guys their own size (except when they played skinny white-boy teams like ours ) so I don't see that as a valid reason. Even if this was the case, they'd be found out at trials for youth rep teams or the NYC team if they got that far. The Warriors NYC team was great for a number of years even though they (most times) had little size advantage over other NYC teams - ironically it was the smaller players for the Warriors who starred for them - Lolohea, Johnson, Locke, Taylor, Henry, Tuimavave, Kata, Slaimankhel and often not due to the forwards dominating, more individual plays.
Players like SST are better for leaving the Warriors, that is true... but he would've had a hell of a hard road to get to the Warriors first grade team before making that switch, it certainly wouldn't have been all "I'm bigger therefore better".
What club did you play for Filth. I'm a Westie as well & played league for years. My main club was Glenora but I also played for Avondale Wolves, Marist, Bay Roskill & Point Chev & the views I expressed were agreed on with all my mates who were pakeha, maori, samoan, tongan, nuiean, cook island, etc. We all had intense conversations when we were all on the piss as to why the Warriors were so piss poor & actually one of my samoan mates actually floated this idea.

Would agree with the character traits reference and distaste for it mate, there's just no room for that in our culture in today's day and age and if you want to be like that that's fine but opinions are kinda like a religious or a dick. It's all well and good to have one, play with it all you like and if people are interested you can even discuss it with em but FFS don't go forcing it down peoples throats willy nilly, that ain't a good way to make friends!
I'm just not sure where, along the lines, we got to a point that media personalities thought it was necessary for them to write tasteless, self praising shit just for the sake of writing. Fuck that. Gimme some real news and real info or STFU.
Id have to agree

Re warriors. James Gavet said (in an interview that was posted on here) earlier in the year, hpw great it had been having foran come over for some of the younger blokes to see the professional attitude to training/etc that they didnt normally see.
Its a weird one because plenty of coaches have gone over there and tried but i think the culture of the club is so ingrained that an outsider coming in gets offside when they try and right the ship. Which is bizarre, because accepting mediocrity year after year is, well, bizarre..

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 58
If you have low trades is it silly to trade out healthy players?? Have 5 left and have locked in Smith for Friend.
My second trade involves trading out ET, and now that I think about it, trading out a healthy player seems quite risky.
Thoughts?

New here also but I'll have a crack. Tough without knowing the rest of your team but from what you have said I would be targeting Pearce, Cleary, DCE or Munster in the halves not keen on Hunt.
