Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 2
I myself have Cronk on the basis that the difference between the combined average kms of Munster/Smith and Keary/Friend is 210. I can seriously see the Knights challenging for the finals as well and I think Watson will get a bucketload of attacking stats with Ponga, Moga, Ross and Pearce around him.

Cronk has averaged close to 50 in the pass as well, 47 and 48 in 2013 and 2014

Connor Watson is priced at an average of 27, and in 9 games as an 80 minute five-eighth he has scored below that once. (Averages 36 when starts at 6)
With handy DPP he is in strong consideration for my team. Main concern would be if they decide to give Lamb a crack at the five-eighth spot and relegate Watson to the bench

There is that possibility but I think Lamb and Pearce are both dominant halves. Neither of them arguably have that running game that is so effective among the best teams. E.g. Pearce/Keary, Thurston/Morgan and Cronk/Munster

Lamb deserves first crack but apparently Watson was guaranteed a start according to a few. Not sure if that was the media or not but I think there was a direct quote from Browny on here.

I don't like Watson or Cartwright but hey for their price you probably have to go 1 or both because they will probably start or in Cartwright's case may come off the bench. There's not many players at their price that will get the minutes they will or who are a definite for their clubs 17. Also their price they are also an enabler to get a few higher priced options.

Think I am going to take a punt on RCG and hope he hits the ground running, don't really want to go over his price bracket for FRFs so I'll partner him with Lodge or Evans and maybe a Latu etc in the reserves. Tempted to go with my heart and go for Alvaro though, hmm decisions decisions

That’s a tough one mate, if you’re an eels fan you must have a strong gut feeling on RCG. They’d be on level pegging those two.

Is it the fact that everyone is set on Lodge that nobody is really mentioning McGuire? He’s still dpp at frf and one of the only consistent guns in that position? I had him in my team with Lodge as well for a cow. Too many Broncs up front for peoples liking?

Cool, makes sense to me. We are really drained on frf gun stocks and in particular consistent ones.

Feel a bit sorry for Watson, it could have been smooth sailing for him and Lamb and now with Pierce there it couldn’t be any further away than that. Pierce has put Watson’s hold on the 6 right up in the air and Watson will now start this season under immense pressure to hold his spot. A far cry from what he was expecting when he signed. Another victim of his own versatility could see him in the 14 jersey quite quickly.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 2
Righto, I'm pretty new to Fantasy, and have been trying to figure out what then options are, and what the trade-offs are.
So I've knocked together a spreadsheet based on the 50 players most commonly referred to on these forums. It contains price, position, as well as guesstimates on job security, injury risk, POD, and performance risk. It's really rough, I know, but I thought it'd be interesting to share.
Some interesting things come out of this:
1) There are clusters of players who appear over- and under-priced, based on these rough metrics
2) Job security appears to attract a pricing penalty at low levels, but not so much a bonus at high levels.
3) Performance risk is a decent, but still noisy, guide to price
4) DPPs are few and far-between, and likely under-priced.
5) Non-PODs cluster hugely at the bottom of the pricing scale: all the talk is of the same cows.

Keen to take any thoughts/suggestions!
