I get that its referring to territory. You attack the other teams territory and defend your own territory. But you also attack the other team's try line and defend your own try line. You attack with the ball - its dumb as fuck to say you are the defensive side if you have the ball, the wording is just dumb as fuck.

but fuck how good would this sound
WHAT A GREAT DEFENSIVE TRY THERE FROM ROBERTS, AMAZING DEFENCE THERE WITH HIM BURNING HIS ATTACKER AND RUNNING 80M TO SCORE, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DEFENSIVE EFFORT THERE TO GET HIS TEAM 4 POINTS

I understand the way the rule applies in certain circumstances in the game, I'm totally fine with that. I don't think the rule ever applies when a team is physically in possession in the General field of play is all I'm saying. Would you disagree with that assessment?

Righto, having read the rules, Ryno is exactly correct in his definition of "attacking team", and I have been using the context incorrectly. The rules regarding things like mid air tackle refer to "kicking team" and "non-kicking team". Still, the original question applies. Is it deemed to be from a kick when the Broncos have batted it back? If not, the escort rule doesn't apply. If not is shoulder to shoulder contact allowable if towards the ball, but not directly towards the ball? Why is sheparding allowed if a strict interpretation is taken? So many questions.

I think the simple explanation is, he went out of his way to knock over someone chasing the ball.
If you are defending or attacking, either way, you cant do that.

Tallis' quote was pretty great... I know he has long standing beef but still.. its rare to see QLDers attacking each other like this especially multiple Bronco legends.

"He has tapped so many players on the shoulder in the past, we have had to cop it, now he is getting tapped and doesn't like it"

Manly are looking for a coach.. lol.

Just before all the hate comes in about Napa being binned. Remember if that was Lodge doing that to another team you’d all be demanding he was sent off and banned for 6827582 games

dog cunt is going to kill some-one tackling like that, and the league gave it the big tick of approval the first time he fucked it up.

Por que no los dos? Can’t we have Napa and Lodge banned for 6827582 games each?

everyone has been focusing on Haas, but we need to get Fifita on a Tolo deal before he even sniffs the open market.

finally a full 80 minute effort, no last-minute heart attack bullshit, we're in this comp up to our eyeballs*, if any year was going to produce a premier from outside the top 4, it's this one.

*so long as some-one else elminates the Storm.

I was a bit on the side of “Napa should have been penalised but not binned” camp the first time around

Finding it hard to feel the same way this time around, just feel like Napa lost any benefit of the doubt we may have wanted to give him the first time

Great win by your lot tho guys

NSW fans have been complaining about Myles for years and he never did anything like that. About time some people admit the opponents determine what they think is appropriate punishment.

Good win, ugly from Napa. The Sims one was a little different in terms of what the tackled play did late, but this was straight and flush. He needs to be sat for a number of weeks. Also, is he one of the most overrated forwards in the game. His numbers are poo, he really only gets plaudits for his big hits which he now has a seriously technical issue with.

Gee, just saw the Mitchell binning, that was dodgy wasn't it. Massive Sheppard in the lead up. Wouldn't have changed the result, but a big call given what transpired shortly after.

This comp really is wide open though isn't it.
