AFL Supercoach
I've just joined our work AFL Supercoach league and would love to teach those dirty southerners a lesson or two.
Anyone here play and can point me in the right direction of building out a team?

Re: AFL Supercoach
Pretty quiet in here Haha
Mate its same as NRL in that you get starting rookies, fallen guns/value players and guns.
Dual position is handy for injury cover and each position Def/Mid/Ruck/Forwards has its own emergency bench.
For the rookies look at last years draft for a guide the earlier they got drafted the more likely they
get a good run at it (but will be a bit more costly)
If you slap a team together post a shot and I'll run my eye over it for you if you like.

Cheers thanks. I've filled 19/30 so have some work to do on it. Will post when full for feedback.

Go for the bulky rookies who are older and sometimes wiser. The skinny fellas in the forward line never last.
Pick a captain like NRL who you know will get a reasonable score. Mitchell from Hawthorn is my bet now that
Dangerfield is injured. Laird in defence is a must have as is Gawn in your rucks. Kelly is a good midfield rookie
and finally concentrate on getting good midfielders even though they are expensive as that is where your points will come from.

Looks decent. The only players that I dislike seeing in there are Hurley and Stringer, due to a disrupted pre-season for Hurley plus coming of peak career year, and due to Stringer being a shit human that can't keep his shit together for a whole season.
The Bell/Christensen combo is in my opinion unlikely to come off. One of them might be a good pick, but I think you'll need to use at least one early corrective trade on that combo.
Turn Ahern in Banfield. Ahern not likely to play in the first month, Banfield is a confirmed starter, mature age and looking to play a decent scoring role for Freo.
Most people have gone off the idea of picking Nic Nat as they seem to be being super cautious with his comeback. If he plays this weekend he could still be a great pick though.
Also, most serious coaches deliberately choose one red dot in their team to take advantage of the captain loophole. It's a much safer loophole to run than in the NRL games. Usually you choose someone not playing at R3 or M11. Ruck is most common because there is rarely any playing rookies there, but there might be 1-2 this year with Cameron and English. If it's at M11 keeping Ahern might be okay and use him for the loophole for a month until he plays, at which point one of your other rookies won't be playing. Still get Banfield though, even at the expense of LDU or Dow who both look like good players but probably won't score super well for expensive rookies.

Re: AFL Supercoach
I'm agreeing with lots of Thickshakes points. Hurley and Stringer are good players but not really good for fantasy. Natanui might not be playing in Round 1 so I'd also look elsewhere. I'd probably pick Christensen over Bell and find another forward.
I'd also have a look at Coffield as a MID/DEF, highly rated by the Saints and Pick 8 in the last draft. Should play games.

Re: AFL Supercoach
Some good advice here you should do well if you follow the above advice.
I won't add any players to look at as I hate it when recommended players don't perform.
But some general strategies to go by
1 Captaincy Loophole - work on this it will give you handy bonus points you need at least 2 elite scorers
2 Pick up outstanding Cashcows you missed in the first 2 weeks before price rises
3 Discard underperforming players in the first 2 weeks before prices drop
4 Have playing emergencies for short term injuries
5 Later on sell off fattened cows for guns and you should kill it
Good Luck

Welcome!
I've only ever heard of about 6 players in my team, so starting at a low base.

Coffield is not going to play from reports on Dreamteam Talk. Confirm tomorrow but not looking good and there is
sweet FA around his price to bring in. I might have to go four heavy hitters in defence.
