While we are talking about terrible decisions maybe we should discuss the Jack Bird no try. The ball was on the ground, Birds fingers touched the ball therefore it should be a try. His hand was traveling downward therefore there would be some downward pressure no matter how minuscule.

Even as a Broncs supporter I’m happy for that to not be a try - seen them awarded before though.

Whilst I’ve bothered to log on rather than lurk, another big shout out to MTB for your stellar work with the stats site mate, champion effort and much appreciated! So awesome to have that as a go to resource.

Yeah, as in the Broncos blew that win from out of their arse.

We were down to a 1 man bench in GP. How is that not gutsy? I already said the refs bottled it so don't see why celebrating a WIN is so bad lol

That's the thing though, we have seen those tries awarded before. Such inconsistency. There was one or two that were awarded last year that were scored in the exact same manner (ball on the ground, player touching the ball with their fingertips). Did the Bunker not award the try because the on field call was no try? Would the decision from the bunker have been different if it was awarded a try on field?

You misspelt "Gutsy" with "Gusty". As in wind. As in Fart. As in the end of that game stunk like a fart. An Eggy Fart.

Maloney with 14 missed tackles tonight. Wow, just wow....

Throw in a penalty and a error for -32. Must be close to the record

The undeserved 2 points smell pretty sweet though! We will probably need them to stumble in to the 8.

I do feel a little bit for the refs.
As everyone says, they could have blown a similar penalty multiple times during golden point. But if they'd done it in the 82nd rather than the 87th minute, people would still complain.
And if they'd not blown anything people would complain about them putting the whistle away for golden point.
They are in a bit of a no-win situation.

I just hope a high profile team gets screwed over by golden point bullshit so we can finally get it scrapped. Its only value is in allowing some players to rack up fantasy points.

Although it has made an otherwise forgettable game newsworthy. It was a terrible performance from both sides tonight, made interesting only by its closeness, and if it had ended in normal time everyone would try and forget it as quickly as possible,

If I skip by on Doughy this week it will be hard to resist a Merrin > Matterson trade via Cartwright next week and pocket the 50k.

    Just my thoughts

    I think that's it.
If it was sent up as a try, it would have been given.
I don't think there was definitive evidence either way.

Jayne can take the day off tomorrow if he wants, would love Isaako's 45 instead. On 304 with Smith (c), Lodge, RFM, Rochow, Kikau. Isaako and Thompson in reserve. Let's see if the eels can destroy my round again.

Almost brought McCullough in this week, figured he wouldn't hit his BE and I could try next week.
And he probably wouldn't have hit his BE either if it wasn't for golden point

Of course, he put him through the gap. CS9 just lobbed the ball up from lying on the ground to NAS who has a fully formed defensive line in front of him and broke the line himself.

What's up with the Roosters forwards in regards to Matterson. Same vein as RFM? 80 minute edge forward or is he covering?

Im fine with the Bird no try. Imo the video ref was ok to go with the onfield call. Rugby League will never have perfect black and white decisions.

Your last paragraph nails why golden point is here to stay. Golden point games are easy to hype. I personally think draws are easy to hype too, but the media loves the walk-off home run aspect of GP.

Its good in the sense that any publicity is good publicity.

But pretty much every media outlet is talking about refs ruining a game of football, other than Broncos fans there is not a lot of positivity about the game. Is that what the NRL want post game discussion to be about? Golden Point almost ensures it.
