yep, niko is a problem I've got. I'm hoping I can put off dealing with it for a few weeks. By the sounds of things he is expected to play this weekend.

Normally id keep Murray but i have the cash to go Murray to Smith. I didnt start with Smith so happy with the cash he's dropped and i need his points this week.

Those talking about Dufty, im in the situation too where i have thompson in my reserves. Next week i'll prob cash out Dufty so i can start upgrading peaking cows like Lodge, Griffen etc

Have you seen BS9? Hell of a lot better than Croft IMO. I wonder if Bellyache is holding him back for fear of having the same happen to him as what is happening to Croft. Otherwise, I would definitely have Smith in 7 and BS9 on the park, even if it means running Kenny Brom at 14 as a bench utility to spell him when he gasses.

CS9 is the best in the business at controlling a game from the ruck. I'd be very surprised if he gave that up. He jumps in to "half" when he sees fit anyway.

I consider Jai Arrow a much stringer defender who is fitter and runs the ball hard.

Murray seems to get gassed pretty easy then stops flopping in.

He just spent a month in rehab for a hammy, which he reinjured in the Dragons game. He was grabbing at it in the 2nd half.

Murray will captain Australia in the next few years. Not only is he a tackling machine, he hits it up, gets involved in set plays and has captained every schoolboys and junior rep team he’s played in......and that’s NSW and Australia. He is a born leader.

Arrow wil be lucky to be in first grade at that time.

You don't think he could control the game from anywhere on the park MTB? I mean, I definitely agree with what you are saying and I don't see it happening either but what if it's the best fit for the team? If Jacks flops and Smith continues to have to jump in and play as a half Bellamy is quickly running out of options. Surely you give Brandon a chance sooner rather than later...

Arrow will be around Rabs. He's also played Aus schoolboys and all the junior rep teams, just on the other side of the Tweed. Queensland will have both he and Wallace in that side for a long time to come.

That's not discrediting Murray, I think he is a decent player and have also followed his junior years a bit (obvs not as closely as you) but I certainly wouldn't go as far to say Murray will be captaining Aus while Arrow is lost to the ether....

I went to school with Brandon Smith up here and that guy is a machine. He is built like a brick shit house! Was a really great tackler growing up and would hurt you everytime he tackled you. He was getting into the wrong crowds around year 11 and 12 but I am glad he pulled his head in along the way. I will be very happy to see him playing for the Storm at 9 in the coming years (hopefully this year). So glad we got his signature. He is already running around with the NZ Kiwis. He will be captaining that team in the years to come.

i think he'd get frustrated taking a ~little bit of a back seat in the halves, rather than having his hands on the ball for every play. he'd be calling for the ball at half rather than being the one who decides which way they go from the PTB.

Its not the worst idea in the world at all, I just reckon CS9 loves having the full reigns at all times.

Reminds me alot of Bully (Luke) in the way that he goes about his business. Great defensive technique, nuggety lil bugger, runs hard despite his size, can play before, at and through the line. Keen to see how he transitions into tops but I feel that he has already shown that he has the potential to be able to ball with the best of em. Exciting prospect for sure.

Yeah I'm with you on this. I don't think you move one of the best hookers ever to play from his preferred position if you can avoid it.

If anything Jahrome Hughes is also an option, Billy Walters, Scott Drinkwater, Cooper Johns, even Billy Slater could step up into the halves. Still a bit more experimenting before it gets to that

Thanks @Wolfking and @Rippin and Tearing for your Dufty analysis. I think I'll save the trade for next week to use him to upgrade one of my cows to a gun. He'll likely lose $10-20k but oh well.

Murray: He's not an Arrow level player but he gets through the mahi. He's kind of like a JFH. I'd argue to hold if you got him and consider him as an upgrade for others once he is back and fit. I only say this though because I have pretty much all forwards on my bench so I'm covered. His 50s have been good for me so far, but if he's out 4 weeks, I'll probably turn him into a gun. TLDR He's a keeper IMO

@StormTrooper96 that's a pretty cool background story of BS9. I'm looking forward to seeing him become a regular top side player. Hopefully in an in-form Storm team, not a desperate one.

Ok, so I have resisted the urge so far this season to post up my team and ask for a bit of advice but am currently stuck at a point of what to do this week. Am leaning very heavily towards just banking the two trades this week and running the same crowd but don't wanna lose any money on my cows cos I have some upgrades coming in.

Anyone that has a minute to have a squizz, would appreciate it.

    Cook
    Kapow Lodge
    Arrow JFH RFM
    Maloney DCE
    Mitchell GI
    Teddy Ponga Dugan

    CS9 Kikau Thompson Kennar
JMK Doughy Chrichton (without a partial digit lost in Honeysetts bum) and Luai

264k ITB and 27 trades remaining.

Crichton and Luai were drunken last minute mistakes that I was unable to reverse due to being stuck on planes, nothing I can do about that now. I would really like to get rid of GI and bring King Guth in and am also looking at getting rid of Lodge and RFM in the coming weeks. My problem with doing the GI trade is that I was planning on using that money to shift Maloney out. I also have Doughy to content with.

Like I said, think I can get away with banking this week, just not sure if it's the smartest move.

    Thoughts?

Actually, Dufty to Aitken would leave me with Mitchell + Aitken centres? Or should I wait and focus on getting a second gun hooker and a gun prop in the future?

@Mearcats My humble philosophy is, if there's too many question marks, don't trade. You shouldn't lose too much money anywhere, and after the round something more obvious may pop up.

Solid Team, seeing as you beat me in H2H last week Finger Not trading this week is definitely an option. You have a good squad and all are going pretty good right now (bar Dugan and GI) I don't think your centres are too much of a worry this week. Could definitely bank the trades but if anything I thinkg GI is your only sell this week if you want to make one

Chrichton isn't all that bad, he should see more games and hopefully all he needs is a big game to get him going.  What about Doueihi to Gossie for a punt?  Bank another 100+K and hopefully he keeps the spot and earns some coin himself?  Would give you loads to upgrade GI to Guth via Kennar plus money left over to upgrade a Lodge or RFM, maybe with another downgrade later.  In regards to Maloney I have him and looks like I will have to play him this week if I keep Murray but if I had JMK, I'd play him over Maloney.

In reality though, you don't really need to trade, unless you're worried about Doueihi losing money.

Cheers Rapture. That's what I'm thinkin. In weeks gone I've been pretty concise about what I wanted to do trade wise (except for the aforementioned drunk trades) but this week it's just not definitive. Feeling it's a sign.

On Jack Wighton, read an article saying that CCTV footage may make his position untenable. I'm going out on a limb here, if one dude assaults 3 (possibly 6 according to Canberra times) its because he is provoked, and defending himself. In which case his only crime is being able to throw a few decent punches. If he gets flogged by 3 people, its not him that gets charged.

    Obviously speculation etc.
