Agree with Blain. A better cow will pop up. Even the RFM trade is unnecessary as Lane is decent cover, or at least wait until Saturday for any word on RFM.

I have gone Crichton and ARey at the moment. But I am in the same boat as you, Fifita is a must but to get him instead would have to get a cheaper option and play them in my 17, was thinking Lamb. My 17 is already looking pretty weak with potential injuries and benched players, I don't think I can afford to do that. Need as many strong players as possible I think.

100% same boat. Stuck with Cogger and Sorensen still in my EMG so would prefer having two solid players swapped in. I'm flicking RFM and Maloney for them. Probably panic tomorrow and swap Crichton for Fifita

I'm grabbing Cleary as well. Running low on trades and can grab him and another gun this week for Rein and Maloney. If I wait for Cleary to drop I'll likely need to burn two trades to grab him. Not sure I can afford the extra trades.

    RFM JFH Martin TPJ

Bold are my trade out options
    Trade in options in order:
    ARey
    Crichton (Hess?)
    Fifita
James (DPP, current form is good)

Bringing in Crichton and ARey fixes my halves and 2RF. Next week's trades should be Rein + Soro to Teddy + Turbo (Not worried about SOO as I'll have cover)

    Thoughts?

Soooo lettts goooooooo! (Also you are considering two upgrades this week and two again next week. How much cash do you have.

Here are your main trade out options:

So Maloney is a must trade imo. BE of 40 and highest score with Cleary being a 27. Unless you think Cleary is getting reinjured (Which you shouldn't rely on) He will lose cash this week. So you're right in trading him out. ARey fixes your halves, you could grab Cleary or Matterson. Matterson is probably the least injury concern wise. Unless you want that PoD in Arey.

Kikau/RFM/Murray/TPJ can all wait a week imo. They are heavily owned, not losing much cash, with great potential. Murray is probably worse off as he is less likely to have a massive game off the bench than say Kikau. Either way I would hold them both this week.

Isaako/JMK have capped out unless they have a big game, but aren't losing cash. So you could trade them this week, without too much of an issue.

Cogger/Sorenson aren't doing anything for your team. I would trade one of these guys out this week. If you can for the WFBs you mentioned or for a 2RF you mentioned. Fifita is the best option then probably Tedesco. I wouldn't go Trbojevic yet he is a wait and see with the recent slump.

Ok I've decided to drop Maloney and JMK this week while keeping Rein.

Listening to people here, plus looking at breakevens, it seems Cleary has some price to lose so I think I'll wait until after origin to bring him in.

That said, I'll be doing Maloney --> ARey.

Who do I drop JMK for though? I need a half, which really limits who I can bring in.... Thinking Brimson?

Am I missing anyone else or is Brimson my only real option as a cash out for JMK?

No doubt he’s a keeper, but last week is an outlier imo. I’d love to have him, but I don’t like the idea of carrying him and Murray together, so I’ve backed Murray to cement a place in the starting team at lock eventually. Risky, but I’m confident something gives for him to play 80 soon.

Why not hold Rein a week. Should make some cash, you can see how Cleary pulls up. Cleary has a BE of 79, Reins is 15. So you can get some more cash out of them.

Thompson has maxed out unless you are holding him for byes.

Inglis and Aubbs are obvious upgrade targets but not sure you can grab anyone with your cash. Waht are your plans with Doueihi. Holding out hope of an injury? Same with Cogger.

Jumping Marlin wrote:A bit of a random question: I was thinking about the magic number this morning. From what I've read on here, the magic number was around 15,000 to start the year and has now fallen to around 14,000.  I assume this means that, at the start of the year, someone with a 50 average would cost  $750k (50 times 15,000).  And that if that person had of met his average all year, he would now be valued at only $700,000 (50 times 14,000).

This implies we should expect the price of our guns (on average) to slowly reduce over the year as the magic number falls.

It struck me that when looking at which guns to bring in, looking at price changes since the start of the year can be misleading.  For example, TOLO has dropped $67k from the start of the year.  BUT, IF the magic number has moved from 15,000 to 14,000 then he was priced at 60.9 average at the start and a 60.5 average now.  So, he's kind of priced where he was at the start of the year!  To return to his starting price, he actually has to outperform his 2017 average.

It also implies from pure cash value perspective - that  investing in cash is better than investing in guns!  While this makes no sense for an overall player - for a H2H player it could make sense to stash cash away and load with guns at the back end of the year when they are, on average, lower priced. This strategy also takes away injury risk for the guns that would come in.
The theory sounds solid but even playing h2h you still need to win enough games to make the league finals.

As mentioned Brimson and Lamb are the only targets for JMK to a HLF.

Lamb racked up an average of about 200 more kick meters with Watson than he did when Pearce was there. He is also kicking goals which makes him look strong. I forget when Pearce is due back.

Brimson does a lot more tackling, he lacked attacking stats last week compared to say Lamb. His job security is a little more up in the air, as Elgey did great last week in the QCup and could find himself back in the Titans team. He does a lot less general kicking, but is a cheaper option.

I just talked myself into Lamb over Brimson.
