I'd say its 20% luck at most. For an individual it may seem more, but when you take into account that everyone is affected the luck thing balances out quite a bit IMO.
Also from my perspective I certainly keep my ear to the ground during the week, but being in NZ with 2 kids <3, and 2+ jobs, I would say on average I watch about 2 halves of footy per week at most. I basically don't know the players outside of their stats - hence the questions I ask on here at times.
So IMO strategy and good quantitative analysis are the keys.
I currently sit 28th in NRLF and 10th in VSDT
EDIT: not me that down voted you BTW
Sorry, 90% luck was an over exaggeration - But my point still stands. The top couple thousand players are largely separated by things going their way, and things shitting the bed. Getting your team right at the start of the season separates the men from the boys.
That's why we love the game, things happen that you don't expect, which can either go for you or against you.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 55
Ive got two questions about running an 18th man. This will run close to discussions around poolhooping, but, I will do my best to avoid that smut and keep it PG13 (not the drug cheat knuckle head NSW legend)
If you are in a situation where you are running a player who isn't ideal in your 13, say Hiku at WFB. Are you better off not running an 18th man, using those funds to improve players in your 13.
and.
If you have poor cover in your EMG. i.e you cant gurantee you will always get the score of an 18th man. IS it worth carrying an 18th man?

Fonua to Farah seems legit although will screw my 17 trade ins. Will have to sacrifice CInnes probably but to tempting to pass up.
Griffin to Farah probably a good option too but he could be great the next two weeks with all the injuries and Fitz getting suspended.

@RnT
You've made me feel even better about where I'm sitting this year after reading that.
With 192k in the bank i think the next couple of rounds are really important for me to get my trades right.

Farah news is nice, heaps of good options out there next week. Think he'll get 80 mins straight of the bat? Just got to work out who to bring in first - Gallen or Farah. Think I'll see what Farah puts up first, but I know he'll do well.
I got Friend in about 4 weeks ago, but would happily upgrade him to Farah as bench/18th man. Round 18/19 planning this line up
Cook
Arrow, Fifi
Jurbo, Harris, Lolo
Arey, Johnson
Aitken, Mitchell
RTS, Ponga, Dugan
Smith, Farah, Gallen, Ese ese | Surgess Hunt Holland Olive
Leaving 4 Trades. I'll need a strong 18/19th man with low trades, but will need to skimp on the backs a touch. Might skimp on getting Hunt, and upgrade Aitken to Turbo instead.

I wonder if Farah, Brooks and MBye can really create a potent spine at the tigers and deal some damage to opposition sides. Can Farah pump out 50+ at tigers?

Anyone trading in Farah in VSDT/Supercoach where you are limited to 2 hookers?

I think R&T's data collecting was aimed at making me feel like a right cunt of a player.

For those waiting on news of possible free tickets from old filth: Bad news for you!
Tickets arrived today and are basically for any round, any venue (not finals).
Will be off to a Storm game at some stage with a mate.

What's the go with Farah. Won't there be a bench hooker at the tigers?

Thats it, added bonus is my stance ill only do it if the day less is a monday, as anyone who opts for a 4 day week if approved is told its wednesday only usually.

Definitely not. Main reason is because can space is not an issue for me in VSDT its all about getting the best 17 players on the pitch and Cook + Cam Smith for me are the best hooking combination possible.
