I think just prioritize what your team needs & use your trades accordingly. There's a lot of shiny new toys on offer like R. James, SJ, RTS, Aitken, etc but sometimes you have to pass on them to set your team up properly. For example my team needs a gun ctr so no matter how much I want James or SJ they're not a good fit for my team.
Perfect advice. Im in the same boat, if I am going to hold Ponga will need an Aitken or Cotric, but for this week, would rather McInnes or James.

According to NRL.com S'ua is not expected to play this week. He is a sell for me, along with TMM and possibly even DCE and Fifi. Not sure if Ponga is a hold or not but my back line is currently
Mitchell Ramien
Ponga Mann Turbo
Brimson (cover)
I could sell Sua, put Mitchell at WFB and bring in Aitken/Cotric to CTR or i could sell Ponga.
Team is
Cook
Arrow Fifi
Jurbo Chrichton Tolo
SJ DCE
Ramien Mitchell
Ponga Mann Turbo
Smith McInnes Martin TPJ
S'ua Fainu Brimson TMM
10(4) Trades and 147K
Anyone got any thoughts/advice? cheers lads. Stress levels as high as Andrew Johns last Sunday

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 57
With 12 trades I might bring in someone like James just for the week with the intention of dumping him a week later. If he crushes his BE then I will reasses but if he gets like a 40 then it proves to me he might have been in a purple patch, take the couple of extra bucks and swap to whatever I need.

if you are already close to a final 17, then I would definitely do that, if not a couple of trades just for round 17.

12 trades is heaps, I'd be going nuts this round to bring in some final 17 guns and a couple of cashouts.
Only caveat is that you want a final 17 together next week, so don't leave yourself too exposed.

The concern is Ponga. I should go Aitken or Cotric instead for backup. Save a trade and the money for next week but the thought if James going big with Wallace and Arrow out is tempting. Same could be said for McInnes but him being a hooker goes against him.
Thing is if I get James I will have to play holland next week until Ponga comes back so not ideal.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 57
I've got 9 trades, with Harris and Sua gone missing, plus Ponga, and then TMM/Tuala to generate small amounts of cash with.
Seems to make the most sense to make four trades as Sua is now no further use, Harris is (probably) out too long, and TMM/Tuala may as well become Lewis/Holland/another rnd 17 cheapie to give me points this week + a bit more cash ITB.
Struggling with the idea of who to bring in. Originally I wanted SJ for Harris (noting I already have Reynolds and Milford). Now with Ponga injured I feel like I should also grab a WFB to cover him while he's out (eg RTS for Sua).
RTS would essentially be my 18th man.
However I also want/wanted Farah next wek, but if I get SJ + RTS this week for the above blokes, it begs the question.. for who? The most likely candidate would be Surgess, but he's put up good scores of late..
IF i do all that it would then leave me with 4 trades post round 18 for the run home, but also a little back heavy with three halves and RTS as 18th (when Ponga is back)..
Sorry, that is a bit of a pointless ramble, but if anyone has any suggestions, throw em up

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 57
This is my team lads;
Smith
Fifita Taupau
Tolo Crichton Arrow
Coggar ARey
Mitchell Marsters
Ponga Teddy MBye
Cook Martin Harris Griffin
JFH Doueihi Mann Olive
12 trades 200K
trades are;
Olive - Holland
Coggar - Lewis
Harris - SJ/Milf
Griffin - McInnes/James/Aitken/Cotric
Would love to go James I think but then would have to play Holland until Ponga returns. Going Aitken/Cotric is a good backup especially if Mitchell gets rested. Going McInnes would be nice but would be overkill especially since I want Farah next week. Aitken/Cotric is the smart play for now, but then when Ponga is fit, I have a back in my 17 which isn't ideal.

These are the guns I think it is worth making effort to get int your team this week (most people should have a few of these guys already)
Cameron Smith
Cameron McInnes
Shaun Johnson
Ryan James
Euan Aitken
If you bring in one of these players, it is almost certainly worth it. Especially if you are trading out Harris or Ponga. Double especially if you have enough trades to bring Harris/Ponga back in if you need to.
Borderline cases are
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
Nick Cotric
Anthony Milford

Rd17 is a real Stain of a rd.
Cameron Smith is the only player that is he obvious pick.
Players I can think of (at top of my head because im bored) who are relevant this week. Not many of these you'd really want in your top 17.
Smith
James
SJ
Aitken
Cotric
RTS
Martin
Tapine
Whitehead (lol)
Mcinnes
Hunt??
Dufty
Yeo
Kikauk
Luke
Hodgson
Jackson
Milford?

Matt Gillett was aiming for round 21 return, but suffered a calf strain today which may delay that.
Probably doesn't really affect anyone except those hoping TPJ gets more time on an edge.

Yep, needs to choose 2 out of those 4, if holding Ponga.

I wouldn't be too concerned about playing Holland until Ponga returns. Looking at your final 17 even if you trade Aitken in you'll possibly still have Holland/Doueihi in your 17, short term at least.
It looks like this would be your team
Smith
Fifita Taupau
Tolo Crichton Arrow
SJ ARey
Mitchell Marsters
Teddy MBye Ponga/Holland
Cook Martin Someone Lewis/JFH
Doueihi Mann Holland/Ponga
Bringing in Aitken/Cotric helps you with cover for CTR/WFB, but otherwise is not essential. I'd be tempted to go for which ever player you think will get you the most points within the price you are willing to pay, regardless of position.

So you rate Aitken over Milf? Is that due to the position he plays?

Honestly, if you told me that was our bench at the start of the year I would assume we'd be fighting for 15th spot.

I am thinking i can only really do TMM > Holland/Lewis and Sua > Aitken/Cotric. This would allow me to hold Ponga and play Ramien Aitken (CTR) and Mitchell Turbo Holland/Mann (WFB) till ponga is back
Then RD 18 I am seriously considering
Fifi > Gun (TPJ could even be my primary FRF if he secures an 80minute edge roll for the rest of the year)
Brimson > (18th man) if i can afford
RD 19 would be Mann > WFB (just in time for Ponga to go back to WFB)
RD 19 team would than be
Cook
Arrow Gun/Fifi
Chricton Jurbo Tolo
SJ DCE(if i dont sell him)
Ramien Mitchell
Ponga (if good) Turbo WFB(Mbye/Teddy/RTS)
Smith McInnes TPJ Martin
18th Man Aitken Fainu Holland
