I suppose the theory is that even the premium halves are more up-and-down scorers and even if they average similarly Cleary/SJ/DCE will dip in price at some point whereas JTurbo won't.

With hokko hopefully not in the 17 is DCE definite GK?
Also those guns that were mentioned are probably priced about right. If I can fit them in then I would gladly have them in my team but the likes of Cleary, FAC, Morgo, Edwards even Arrow and Brown are all pretty underpriced for current/past guns who all could gun it this year. I wonder how Cleary goes under his father whether he eases off the peddle or goes hard.

Lots of talk on Vaughan, Tolman and TPJ and undervalued props etc wondering what everyone thinks of Leeson Ah Mau moving to the Warriors.

Will he become their number 1 prop? In games he played over 40 minutes in (8 games in total) he averaged 53 points in 49 minutes. Could he be in line for a 50 minute role?

White Lightning wrote:I read this on a sc forum yesterday re the Raiders f/b spot. Apparently Oldfield has been training at f/b with Cotric on the wing & there was no mention of Abbey. Oldfield is only 307k. He's a handy player, nothing sensational but if he's going to play f/b then if you're are looking to play a cheap wfb in your 13 he could be the answer. The Raiders have a nice early draw so Oldfield could score 30's, maybe early 40's. Thoughts.
To further complicate this issue I was reading the Raiders forum & apparently D. Edwards isn't happy at the Panthers because the poster reckoned DWZ could be the f/b not Edwards although I find this hard to believe because Edwards is 4 times the f/b DWZ is. So of course the Raiders fans want the club to sign Edwards.

You must have missed the kiwis matches at the end of last year. DWZ was Captain at Fullback and absolutely killed it. Really stepped up his game! First picked if he is FLB this season.

I respect the fact that DWZ is a good fullback but surely they cant kick Edwards out? I mean i could see him being a centre but they got centres in Whare and Blake.
Tamou surely a good bump in minutes with Merrin gone? I haven't even thought of him

Agree he was outstanding in the test series. They did fantasy scores and from memory he was ok but not amazing, but in terms of actual play he was RTS-like. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he started ahead of Edwards.

Haven't the panthers all but confirmed DWZ starting at fullback and easing Edwards back after his injury

This is the same for gun wfbs. Thats why im still keen to start with as many gun forwards as i can and go lighter on ctr and wfb

Im still leaning towards Pearce. Playing behind a good forward pack this year and those kms when ponga moved to 6 late last season

Stats speak for themselves but is there any reason people aren't wanting to include Fifita/JTurbo/Taupau/DCE/Taumalolo?  DCE is one I could see being of interest assuming Elgey gets the 6. Most of Elgey's halves partners have scored very well

I have Fifita in my team - Gallen getting older will see less mins, W. Graham out injured for a couple of months, L. Lewis retired. I expect Fifita to get more mins due to the Sharks fielding an inexperienced pack. Also Fifita killed it last year when he was managing his knee injury for most of the year & he hardly trained. Imagine what a fresh, fit & injury free Fifta willo do in 2019.
Jurbo is a wait & see - will new coach Hasler try & turn him into J. Graham mark 2 meaning converting Jurbo into more of a ball playing forward where he passes before the line. Consistent ball playing may restrict hit ups, tb's, offloads.
Taupau is a great option & always starts the season on fire but I'm going Fifita.
DCE is also a great option but I'm going for a cheaper Cleary
Taumalolo is a wait & see - the Cowboys now have a stacked pack with McLean fit & McGuire joining. I expect less mins & more impact & he'll face competition for mins in the middle competing with McLean, McGuire, Scott & Bolton. Also coach Green has said he wants to throw the ball around more because he feels thw Cowboys have become too predictable. This will mean the edges will see more action & ball becuase the attack will be more spread out meaning there will be less hitups, run mtrs for the middle men.

@ HB - I feel Fifita has more upside than Taupau. Taupau operated at maximum capacity in 2018 & had a great fantasy year but Fifita was basically playing on 1 knee/leg & still finished with a higher average.

I drafted my first team of 2019... mostly and bunch of POI's put together in one team.

    Cook
    Arrow, TPJ
    Murray, IPap, Stimson
    Morgan, Salmon
    Holland, Bird
    Edwards, Oldfield, Lomax

    Radley, Hampton, Haas, Dfifita
    Egan, Mann, Ravalawa, CHT

    Notes:
    - Whatever the speculation about Cook, I still think he'll scoot, he's a gun.
    - I don't think Tolman will improve much fantasy score wise hence the omission

You'd have to be crazy to pay the premium for Taupau after the year he hadf imo.
