Will make decision at 5:30, before leaving work.

Looks like we will be trading Arrow to either AFB or RTS

Personally I much prefer bring in AFB to RTS

RTS won't play next week, and his BE is high enough that he won't jump in price.
If we want him, CNK to RTS after the bye is a much more logical trade.

That worked well and I think demonstrates why quick decisions in the last couple of hours maybe shouldn't happen? Discuss.

I don't think the speed of the decision had an impact.

I believe people wanted Arrow gone. Certainly there was discussion about ditching him but nothing on keeping him, and I'm not sure more time would have seen a different target chosen.

947 last week, which would normally be a good score, but which didn't work out so good for us in a high scoring round.

Looking at 10 players pre trades, which isn't too bad.

I don't think there are any guns worth trading in, so I think it's cashies as the main source of R12 points.
I imagine Billy Brittain will be a popular target assuming he is named as expected

Tolman would be the main gun to target, but don't think he is worth spending trades on for essentially just points this week.
Manu Ma'u is the left field choice, but probably too expensive to be worth it really (but certainly worth a look in VSDT where you can pick him at CTR)

Yeah. Its a bit unfortunate but it was still a good week. I think we will have a good look at trades this week and we've certainly got the bank to be bringing gun players in from now on.

    Celebrity ladder

Overtaken by the scouts, but going into the round we have Cartwright, AFB and Arey compared to his Tolman, so unless he has a cash reserve and makes some big trades we should be able to catch up again.

Im hoping TTrbo gets a start this week. I've been out of action for a while, any update on him?

Otherwise, doesn't look like its worth bringing anyone in for 12 unless they are a cash out. TLT will make things clearer one would think.

Lomax to Brittan is an option. Will get 1 game then most likely be a red dot for loop purposes

Blake Lawrie and Zac Lomax are probably the only 2 I would consider trading out this week.

We have $599k in the bank, so can afford basically anyone.

Brittain is a good cash out.
Havili is a bit of a risk for mid season cash.
To'o or maybe Jesse Arthurs if we want a cashout who might play beyond this week, but I don't really see a lot of value there.

There are a bunch of players around that could score well this week - Tolman, JFH amongst others.
But I am not sure many of them have a lot of use past this week, so if anyone wants one of them they'll have to sell it here.

If anyone has anyone else they want to trade in, post it here to have them included in the trade poll tomorrow.

Agree with above. Laurie our Britain in. Then Lomax to best cheap round 12 player. No point getting JfH / Tolman type player now. That would have been a trade for weeks ago. Stupid to make that trade for just one score. 2 cash outs this week, massive cash stock for Smith and co. Next week!

I'd love to see a poll listing the best cheap round 12 candidates. Some discussion around them would be great too. I'd much prefer to roll with a 50-60min forward (if there is one) as oppoesed to a half or back who could easily bomb out with a <20.

Are there many options? Im pressed for time at the moment.

Unless someone posts a compelling argument to do anything other than bring in two cheap round 12 paying cash-outs I would limit polls/choices to the above.

Just saying a 60 minute r12 forward isn't useful (especially if you aren't interested in the best of them, Tolman/JFH)

Whoever we bring in, what are your plans for them post R12.
Are they a cashout, are we selling them again soon (and presumably expecting to make money from them) or will they continue to be a scoring option for a few weeks/months

There aren't a great deal of cheap options that look like justifying a trade

Like I said, Im very short on time at the moment. What I was alluding to is IF we are going to bring in another round 12 player In addition to Britain), presumably at the expense of Lomax, I'd want to be reasonably assured of getting a decent round 12 score out of them. I wouldn't really wanna take a punt on a WFB that might only get 10 points. the 60min r12 forward was used as a way of implying we should bring someone in that we can be reasonably sure will play a role that enables at least a 30 point, preferably 40 point round 12 score. If we cant find someone like that I dont really think its worth it.

I haven't had the time to project things out to see what we actually need. I.e. do we need to generate more funds to afford the players we want moving forward? If so, then yes, we cant afford to bring in another Britain type guy who we won't be trading out again, and the players we consider would also have to make money.

I as you say, there aren't any cheap options then 1 trade it is!

Even if you find a cheap guy who plays this week and not again (or maybe 1-2 more games) the trade and 2nd dead spot on the roster isnt worth the short term possible 40 point gain. 1 dead spot in Brittan is enough.

Considering the current bank balance Lomax should be the preferred out option. Lawrie is a good solid 40-50 points(which could increase with Grahams injury) which makes him a great back up player or at the very least an east upgrade to true rd16 gun. Actually im not opposed to trading early this round for next round, could look at Lawrie to McInnes (if we believe he will continue to play 80 with Robson on the bench like last week) lets us essentially make 3 post rd12 trades

Looking at R13, Carty out is a given.

Rein and Young might be in danger too.

McInnes, Bateman, RTS are possible targets. Anyone else we have our eye on? Ttrbo I guess if he returns.
Probably not a good time to target origin players likd Cook, JTurbo (which may mean no Ttrbo either if we are in doubt)

I'm happy with the one trade but could be swayed to Havili if we need the cash.

So I think we get no-where unless we work backwards from our final squad.
So, here's how I would approach it all:

We currently have Smith, Fifita, Haas, Tolo, Murray, Reynolds, Nikora, Ponga, Teddy who all look like keepers (that's 9). So we need another 8/9. Total trades to deal with getting all the rest out = 12 (would leave 4 final trades for injury).

    Value of those 12 = Rein ($705), Mahoney ($675), Taupau ($720k), Lomax ($350k), Sivo ($530k), CNK ($550k), Lawrie ($570k), AFB ($620k), Young ($420k), Carty ($510k), Xerri ($500k), Dearden ($450k) = ~$6.6m

    JTrbo ($750k), DCE ($875k), Bateman ($775k), Cook ($945k) & TTrbo ($765k) are must haves. Combined cost ~$3.35m

One trade this week sounds like a lock = Britain $228k

Another must have is McInness ($830k)

    Budget left for 2/3 players + 2/3 cashouts = ~$2.2m

This shows that we haven't got the funds generated to afford a semi decent 18th man, unless a cheap option pops up.

We could afford to get a couple $750k guys (e.g. guys like Matterson, Klemmer, RTS, Munster, Twal etc) and the remaining $700k would go one filling the rest of the roster.

So in short, I think working backwards we need to use 2 of our (4) trades to generate more money. We should grab someone like Havili to make the money and add to our round 12 score. Trade him out in 4 rounds, and we will be best positoned to have a gun squad and an 18th man this year.

Assuming we go Lomax to Brittan this week

My outs would be in this order post rd12
    Cartrwight
    Mahoney
    Sivo
    CNK
Young (could slide down list if still starting)
    AFB
    Rein

Xerri/Deardon/Lawrie can be used for cash at the appropriate times

my Ins would be (in no order as BE and backing up from SOO could impact)
    McInnes
    DCE
    Cook
    RTS
    Bateman
Matterson/Arrow/JTurbo (think only 1 should be a target until later in season depending on cash flow)
