I couldn't see why with the kind of coin you would have available you would even have him on the radar.

well if taylor hasnt coached all of the skill out of him, he could become a very good player.
When he came into grade he played a bit of 6, centre, back row, i remember him even playing halfback one game.

Taylor turned him into a kyle lovett clone instead of a cartwright clone.

If he is put at lock and used as a ball player/skillful back rower, I wouldnt mind having him at newcastle, thats how bad our stocks are at the moment.
Even so, if i had to choose between him and tariq sims, i would prob choose sironen considering the kind of money sims somehow commands.
sims should honestly donate half his pay to thurston for the rest of his career

lol you were the one that brought it up!
I almost guarentee the mole read this thread and is now spurting it as fact.
    He is fucking hopeless.

On the NRLCEO.com site there is a blogger who rips on the mole a lot, its semi entertaining. EDIT - Thats actually about the Lurker, but really, same difference.

There are a few forums/facebook groups in the past that have deliberately started rubbish rumours in the past in the hopes of getting lurker/mole/wiedler to bite. And it has worked too.

Lurker is deadset just terrible - pretty funny seeing someone individually dissect his posts.

Yep, love NRLCEO. Its deadset brilliant. The website is shit but as far as fantasy goes, I reckon its heads and shoulders above supercoach etc (Admittedly I have not played supercoach for like 2/3 years.)

    lol thats great.
I've got no problem with "reporters" using rumours for stories, but I hate when they dont say where they got the rumour from and just pretend its from their own private source.

I'm always a little bit amazed that NearlyNrl and nrlceo (or even the draft format of supercoach and fantasy) aren't more popular than they are.

Why do so many fantasy players in Australia play H2H competitions where everyone can have the same team?

In lots of cases Fantasy players aren't that serious (a bit like footy fans in general). They want to play a cash league with their mates for bragging rights and a bit of fun for small amounts of cash, but know that in a league of 12 or 20 of their close mates maybe half of them watch 1-2 games a week and don't do any fantasy research. With an overall comp, many of the Como won't give a damn by the time the first bye round is done. With H2H with a finals system the whole league is still in it for the whole season and they can still get whatever enjoyment they want out of it.

Totally agree, I dont see the fun in everyone having the same team, or just variations of the same team.

I love the draft system on NRLCEO - we have 10 of us in the league, everyone is pretty into it, we all put 50 in, we have a live draft at the start of each year and we have a trophy. It also gets me to watch games I normally wouldnt watch because I have a fantasy bloke playing in it. Its also kinda ruined watching footy for me, because when the Fantasy season is over (and because newcastle are shit) I couldnt care less about who wins or what ever.

As Dippy said - by about 2/3 through the season a few of the teams are basically out of finals contention and they would lose interest a bit, but oh well. A few trades with some blokes and a few lucky wins and you can go up the ladder pretty quickly.

NRLCEO is easily the most fun way to play if you have a league that is active IMO.

Mostly its just a good way to keep in touch with some of the good blokes I went to uni with because without it, I wouldnt ever really have a reason to talk to them.

I'm not talking about overall vs H2H

I'm talking about a H2H comp where everyone has the same players vs a H2H comp with unique player ownership.
I don't know why the former is so much more popular  than the latter

It does have the time commitment first up to do your draft or whatever. But that is pretty much the best part of the season for those involved in it.

Plus if you jumped on Latrell Mitchell or some other boom rookie at the start of the season you get to sit back and enjoy him performing for you, rather than sit back and watch everyone else in your league trade him in.

Totally agree. Its prob just a case of - that was the initial fantasy platform that was presented to the masses - thats what they are use to so thats what they play now.
Unique player ownership is the best feature of NRLCEO.

I play NBA fantasy too where everyone has a different team etc.
Its hard with NBA coz there are so many games and the season goes for so long, its hard to keep interested in it. You literally have to look at it every day if you want to go well.

Perhaps. I was introduced to fantasy league through VNRL (of which nrlceo and NNRL are clones) back in 2003 and it was clearly the most popular fantasy league at the time.
Although I think even if I'd played Fantasy/supercoach first I'd have switched anyway. Certainly none of my friends are interested in a league where everyone can have the same team.

The first year I put a team in dream team/sportal whatever was 2005.
Back then there were no points for tackles/hitups etc. It was basically just tries, goals and points if your team won.

A rookie was $30k, and the most expensive player to start the year was Hazam El Masri at a whopping $625,200.  Amos Roberts was 2nd at $476,300.
Josh Hannay, Brett Hodgson and Chris Walker rounded out the top 5. Was certainly very different back then to what it is now.

We started in 2007 I think as well

League will have been going 10 years next year.

    So 2 players.

One has just been dropped from first grade due to continual underperformance

The other is an up and comer just starting to establish themselves as a first grader

We resign one, and let the other go
I hope Melbourne paid a fortune for Addo-Carr, terrible if we let him get away easily
