Not sure about NZ having any international games during the origin period, but how do you cope with your guns being out with international duty on top of players being unavailable due to byes?

The games are in October and November. Tonga, NZ and England. Didn't see any Australian fixtures

I dont know where this idea came from, but there is no such rule that says the last player signed has to be released.

First draft. Barely any research and already 4.9m spent on only 11 players. Feels weak with half budget used. Any glaring issues so far?

News Corp. I've seen multiple DT/CM articles over the last week making a big deal about Cam Smith potentially not being able to play unless the Storm can get under the cap as he was their last signing. I know it has nothing to do with reality, but, well, it is News Corp.

The difference is that they were paired with Foran and Sutton who are not noted kickers nor dominant halves, so it was a genuine case of two golden geese. Brown and Keighran will play second fiddle to Moses and Green. I was hoping Keighran would suck some kms since Green is not a noted kicker, but he seemed to be taking everything in the trials. Either, one or none of them could be of value this year but I would be very surprised to see either find the fantasy points that DCE and Areyn did

Yeah, though that is regarding not playing, until they are under cap. It doesnt mean that he has to be released. (And theyve offloaded kasiano)

NRL is rejecting segeyaros contract cos they are already over the cap. And not signing him doesnt actually fix the problem. It sounded like Ava Seu was going to be offloaded to England, but that hasnt eventuated yet.. so until they are under the cap, they cant sign anyone.

Edit- already over the cap, now that the salary cap fine has been applied.

Pretty sure they have to offload someone over $300k (est). It was something significant enough that they could still sign Segeyaro post fallout.

I see Xerri and Allan in a few teams getting thrown around, but I haven't seen anything to suggest they will actually get to play R1.

Last I heard Ava's contract overseas was the delay. No doubt it'll be sorted in the next few days.

I think the "last signed" thing came from the Sharks and Johnson as he was the "last signed" that put them over the cap this year including their cap reduction which they wouldn't have known about before they signed him.

His contract is registered so I don't see how they would plan stop him from playing. Maybe the Cam Smith thing stemmed from a lack of understanding around that?

What is the argument for going against Capewell and opting for Holland? Besides slight concern over minutes he seems the better option

Xerri is one of those players people think will be playing regular first grade at some stage in the season so either he's in their team list as a placeholder or he's there with them banking on him coming into the 17 early in the season. You wouldn't want to be holding a basement-price player who isn't earning $ for long in this 21 man squad era.

Allan is probably there as a "I hope he's named round 1"

Obviously just from listening to one podcast and seen mentioned but worst case can be for that bench that cannot be mentioned

Doesnt sound like Xerri or Allan will be starting in round 1.

Garrick ownership will shoot up when he is named.

If Allan gets named that would solve my final player conundrum. I have $513K remaining to pick my last player and I cannot find anyone else I like.

Holland probably more assured to keep his role. Capewell maybe not so certain.
Holland kicking goals with Martin probably not in the 17 by the sounds of it.

Holland's average once he was starting centre last year was about 43. I took out the points he got from one game kicking goals.
add 2-4 points (conservatively) per game and that's a pretty solid average.

Capewell's averge is just under 43 when he played 80mins last year (I think). Wade Graham comes back and will take either his spot or Nikora's. Bumping one of them to the bench.
There's also the chance that Sorensen or Williams sneaks into the 13 and bumps him to the bench at some stage too.
