Been hanging around for a while but this is my first post (other than registering for a league).

First of all thanks to all the regular contributors for the tips, stats, analysis and debate. It has made picking a team both much easier and infinitely harder.

Have a couple of last minute quandaries I would appreciate some opinions on. They are pretty much generated by the old fear vs value debate. Nervous about not starting with Smith for the first time in five years so
    a) Smith & Napa or
    b) McCullough & Niukore

also keep swapping Cleary and Tedesco in and out

    Cheers,

Aardvark (the interloper not the original)

Welcome mate. I will go (b) as I think Macca will match Smith & Niukore will outscore Napa easily

I thought he had 4 games at fullback for an average of 49? Short yes, small no. Could be around the size of Teddy just shorter. Looks bigger than a lot of other fullbacks playing nrl e.g Kahu, CNK, Hughes, Gordon, Boyd, Moylan.
Size doesn't come into it, he's a strong guy that can break tackles.

Kahu, Gordon, Boyd and Moylan are average. Jury out on the other two. Unproven. Just like Watson. Tedesco is 3” taller and 10 kegs heavier. Turbo is a giant....they’re the top FBs for a reason. We’ll see soon enough.

Thanks @White Lightning (haven't quite figured out the reply thing yet) and for the record I also think Napa will be pants.

I think the reason this year it's so hard to be happy with a team, is there is no rookie Hooker option.

I can't remember a year where that has happened before.

I also remember the year where running Farah and Smith in your starting squad yielding you a win.

I believe it's the same side he played in trials but different to when he performed great at the end of last year

Scored two tries in the trials there off Hopa sweeping around.

I can't even remember why I decided I wanted Edwards instead of Watson now.

During the trial I posted (and WL I think too) that I was concerned that Watson may not see enough in attack as it was the Ponga/Pearce show, and it has been repeated ever since. But it was just one trial, I still think he'll go well, just not sure I can fit him in.

Hoping both will go 45+ mate, and be top 5 fullbacks with Teddy, Turbo and RTS. DEdwards plays round 12, RTS has great draw and more responsibility, and Watson is TB beast.

What about back to my original backline pick Dedwards then Watson at half instead of Cleary and use Cleary money on upgrade another position?

I think he’s too small for a modern day FB to be making the impact of say a Tedesco or Turbo. They’re sizeable blokes, like Inglis.I also think that his size will make him an injury risk. His stats at the Roosters when FB were average from memory. Just my opinion. Pass.

You could be right, I'm sure he hasn't grown any taller in the off season, but he is jacked AF.

Hey mate, welcome. Do you know if you are on the desk top version? Mobile version is shite but we think it is gone now. Should just be able to hit QUOTE. The Preview button when you go to post is handy as well while you are working things out.
