Is it that's he's a must have as opposed to an option

I was being sarcastic in first sentence (not obvious), I have been his biggest fan on here and people are still asking questions about him (won't be surprised if he plays 50-55 minutes straight at lock this wee). I think he is the top of the trade in targets personally. If you don't have the following I would be going in that order:

    Lawrie
    Morgan
    JBateman
    Gillett

    Host
    Staggs
    Bird

Holland will come good and be a top 5 CTR this year. Had 5 MT's which was the most he had all year last year, also had 5 Offloads, 2 TB's which he averaged 3/game when playing CTR last year and only kicked 1/1 goal. He'll come good.

Holland will come good for sure, but is he as good as other options? thats the question people will have to answer.

Not sure I'll be able to bring Bateman in without losing someone I want to keep though.

But to me, it looks like Bateman will be a final 17 keeper centre. Better than Capewell/Holland so it might be worth bringing him in for one of them, even if I expect them to score well too.

Last year the biggest of my many failings, was not bringing in a keeper at CTR when I had the chance.

The consensus on Bateman pre-season was - could be good, but expensive, so wait and see.
We waited, we saw, what we saw was good. if you won't trade him in now, what score would have made you trade him in?
I think everyone wants him the issue is who to trade for him. I've been a Holland fan all pre-season so don't want to dump him based off one dud score.

    Thinking

    Glasby ---> Lawrie
    Holland ---> Bateman

Can't pass up Bateman as a centre keeper option.
I was lucky Glasby got the try otherwise his score would've been underwhelming. Needs to go, thought he would get more minutes.

Garrick gets to sit in my NPRs for a week.

I'm not dumping him because of his score, I'm dumping him because there is a significantly better option available.
Unless you think Holland will improve to keeper tier or his price rises will out-do Bateman's (which would mean keeper-tier scores)... now is the time.

I have Lawrie but none of the rest. Will target Morgan as he is much cheaper and I don't have half cover.

Will be interested to see how J Bateman backs up on Friday night against the Storm, and given any injury to an outside back means he will move to centre/wing there is still the chance he gets the odd dud score to drag his average down. I would prioritise cash cows early in the season.

The main question, is 60 going to be a high/low/average score for Bateman.

If Bateman will consistently be getting 50+, I think Holland to Bateman makes sense. Holland will no doubt improve his scores and make cash longer term, but do you want to wait that long missing out on Bateman. Of course its still a big cash jump, and not everyone can afford that trade without also downgrading elsewhere.
If Bateman will average closer to 40-45, then you can wait. He'll jump a bit and then stabilise and you can bring him in when Capewell/Nikora/Garner someone peaks

    I can afford Holland+Napa to Bateman+Lawrie
    Or Napa+Sele to Lawrie+Bird

Those are main 2 trade considerations at this point.
if 60 is at teh high end, you may be able

955 for me with Lawrie, Keighram, Bird and Rava all sitting in my emergencies. Playing Brown over Keighran and Sivo over Rava was just a flip of a coin, so what might have been if i went the other way

No trades for me but hoping Taupau and Arrow get more mins

What is Lawries job security like? I didn't catch too much of the Dragons match. What's the Dragons line up when K. Sims returns?

Lawrie and Host would be great options and should make more cash in the short term. Interested to see if Gillett has a few missed tackles in him against Cowboys, and whether Bateman struggles with the pace of the game against the Storm.

I want Bateman purely because he is fun to watch. Tatola will be departing my team this week as will Sivo most likely. Unless I convince myself to drop Holland. I don't think I will have the cash for Bateman sadly.

    Looking at the following players

    Lawrie
    Niukore
Bateman ....but very very iffy, Croker will get injured during the season as he usually does, Leilua doing something stupid and get 10 in the bin, Ricky did this with Whitehead so it's a worry

If Bateman scores 40 this week from 60 minutes against the Storm and Holland scores 40 against Eels are we happy with that trade?
