So based on that, who would be the NSW halves combo?

    Arey & Maloney?

I think Fittler said the other day eh will be sticking with incumbents (not specific to halves)

Cleary and Keary would be my hope based solely on that name combo.

Yes sorry, I meant alternative halves combo.

I personally think Maloney and cleary will be it.

I can't see Cleary not playing origin again after a winning series tbh. Although I hope he doesnt as he's in my team Razz

I think Cleary's done just enough so far to save himself getting dumped, from what i've seen i think a Kleary halves combo is likely.

I think Keary will put pressure on Maloney at 6 but Cleary will be first picked at 7, can tackle and goal kick and is calm, he will be the 7. No one else springs to mind except maybe Mitchell Moses, Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds being very outside chances.

Yeah i agree, Cleary has great defense.

Maloney has such a good head though.

The more i think about it, the less sure I am that either will be dropped.

Also, he's a guy who has scored a tonne (I think more than once?) and he'll do it again.

I can't drop him. He's not going terribly - last score was over 50. If he scores 100 this week his average will go from 46 to 55+. Yes, I know that's a stretch, point is we're only five games in.
Cleary a certainty to hit the banner this week you say, hmm well i wasn't going to bring him in but its hard to pass that up.

    DCE, Munster, Ponga, BHunt9

    vs

    Cleary, Maloney/Keary, Teddy, Cook

Should be a cracking battle just based on those spines.

Camo123 wrote:Thoughts on Nathan Cleary. Is he a gun who's fallen in price ripe for the picking soon at 667k with BE 55 or is he someone who might be overshadowed for final 17 in terms of being a keeper

Personally think he won't make the origin side so would be a good R12 prospect. On a related note why do Panthers miss so many tackles (67 last week!!!) - was looking at Panthers players for R12 and Kikau also stands out as an option

    Was talked about briefly earlier.

Someone mentioned DCE is scoring 10 points a game better than the next best half. Which is true. DCE is scoring at 65.8 and next best is Hunt/ARey/Munster at around 56.

    Lats 5 years DCE has averaged 55, 49, 49 54, 52
So the question you have to ask is if the current scoring is how he will perform this year, or whether long term he will drop back to his historical average.

With Cleary he is currently averaging 45
    His last 3 years average are 52, 56, 53.

So with Cleary currently $669k and dropping, and DCE $880k and rising, there are genuine questions about who is better value for the rest of the season.

Its certainly possible that DCE is going to average well the entire season, and Cleary is going to drop a bit on past highs. In which case jump on DCE as soon as you have the funds/trades available.

My personal opinion (and I get things wrong a lot) is that Cleary can improve on his current average, and DCE will drop a bit, so I'm looking at bringing in Cleary when he is cheap and betting on him picking things up.

Will most likely just bring in Ponga but if I want to bring in DCE either Capewell or Tolman needs to go. Which one do you think? Other trade is Gillett to Haas and am awfully tempted to bring in DCE even if it means doing the Sivo/Rava roulette for a bit longer

I am frustratingly $2k short of Bird to Ponga.

Have to consider Gillett - Ponga instead.

Ryan Sutton is someone to keep an eye on, 435k and posted a 47 & 45 in the 2 weeks Tapine missed beforehand

Yep one to look at come TLT, has played very well the past 3 weeks too.
Hoping he gets DPP as only a FRF at the moment but has been starting lock

Same with Haas and Lawrie, they all have started at lock this year but named FRF
Ogden too would help with cover
Would be amazing if they got DPP today as well and only fair they do

    Maybe wishful thinking

Makes you think how bad some of the positions are to start the year, some weird allocations or ‘guesses’
