Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 39
Hey guys.
I'm a bit confused by all the talk about trading out Garner.
I'm planning to upgrade Garner to Taumalolo in a few weeks time (prior to R12), and he seems a hold to me atm.
Am I missing something? Is Garner out for more than one week? Or, since I only play VSDT, is there a reason why he is a more urgent sell in NRLF?

Burns to:
A) Odgen
B) Sutton
C) Whitbread
Need to sort this out ASAP as I have to make the trade in the next half hour so any help would be great.

Garner is on the trade block because people need points and also he’s made some coin where people can now start cashing without too much more of a rise (most likely).

He's not an urgent sell and should make more money. But he is starting to peak, constantly injured, out this week so some people need to trade a red dot to field a team, and Lawrence could be back in a couple of weeks or so.

I think the main two reasons are that people have a few red dots floating about and also there's a fear that he'll keep getting injured/more HIAs in the future.

If Garner goes for a HIA next week from a falcon, I'm done.

Thanks for your reply, but I still don't understand.
In VSDT, Garner is scoring well, is still making money, and has a BE of 18. He seems to have a few weeks left in him (holding a spot in my 17 in waiting for Taumalolo). If Garner is only out for one week, he seems like a hold to me (I'm happy to play someone like Bird or Waddell off my bench in his place this round). If we trade out players like Garner, who are doing ok and are only missing one game, shirley our trades won't last very long.
Is Garner's scenario different in NRLF? :-S

As everyone said above, also only 21 players to choose from in Fantasy nowadays. Most started the round with 1 or 2 players missing already.
Garner's history of HIA's does not auger well either.

I agree with you that he still has money to make. However, in my case, I’m trading him to Cleary.Simon Templar wrote:

Cleary has a BE of 33, Garners is 31. They should both make a similar amount of money. Cleary is a keeper and it means I don’t have to choose between Cartwright and CHT each week. I also have about a dozen second rowers to choose from. All my cashies are making money and Garner is the closest to peaking.

Sutton it is. Thanks everyone, I was leaning that way, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't looking through my green glasses.

Thanks filth. That helps mate.
I think the explanation that I was searching for is that there are only 4 emergencies in NRLF, whereas there are 8 emergencies in VSDT.
I have 3 red dots in VSDT this week (Xerri, Garner, D. Brown), but I still have 5 back-up players, and I'm happy to save trades by playing Xerri in place of Nikora, and either Bird or Waddell in place of Garner for only one week.
EDIT:
Also, as Chucky has pointed out to me, Garner's BE in NRLF is 31, whereas it is only 18 in VSDT.
Case solved! Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions.

your plan for Garner is spot on pal. People just trying to raise some funds for season end players and guns. Most cows are still on the rise so garner becomes the worst of them that is worth something. He has made over 200k in rises in NRLF so anyone wanting 600k+ players he offers that potential
I went Garner you teddy
Saw one move Garner to Bateman
People now considering Garner to Ponga
These are all great use of his cash generated.
I don’t get as much moves to Sutton or whitbread, but the latter gives great bank for upgrade money
TLDR: your method is great for a straight switch to Tolo but others will use Lawrie or Burr or sideways Arrow for that same move and are getting points in the meantime with a different gun for Garner
