Wouldn’t you then be burned on the second bye round? Unless you plan on ploughing through trades

Will have 14 this week already. Will look to just target a couple of key trade ins ahead of round 12 and save trades the next few weeks, including saving trades in the big bye round that many others will trade heavily in, likely 1 or even 0 trades that week.

Will have 0 Origin players, retaining 5 that can play 2nd bye round, can trade out a few non-keepers, all to 2nd bye round players, trading heavily between the byes. Need to make up ground over the 2 bye rounds and see where that places me overall after round 16.

Don’t for get quality over quantity for bye rounds I’d sooner have 11 players then 12 if it meant not carrying Garrick for example.

That or I have another sub-50 score coming my way which is more likely but some part of me thinks I shouldn't let him go yet.

Mate, I've thought this the last month.  You are probably right but I don't think I can do it anymore.

Garner to Rein worth it? Gives me a round 12 player for non round 12 player and Garner is about ready to be traded anyway.

The maximum total bye players you can have is 33 over the 2 rounds. That's with no origin players and max trading between byes to bring in bye players.

Anyone who managed it would be stuffing their team up so badly for non bye rounds that they would have no chance overall. Would also need to get lucky with injuries, and surprise origin picks.

I'd say if you can get 12 reasonable scorers each bye round you'll be doing OK.

Long term planning often sucks because your key trade in goes and gets injured anyway

I think this happened last year? but it was more because non bye playing keepers got injured, and everyone who would of had less players in the bye, all of a sudden had the same as those who ahd carefully bye planned.

I could be wrong. My memory is shiity

If you think Garner is ready to be traded, then that's a solid trade. Maybe a bit late on Rein Early on Garner. But you cant win every scenario.

A big name player got injured right before the byes last season but I also fail to recall who it was.

This is why bye trading is a waste of time. One day when I get up around the top couple of hundred I might consider it.

I'm more looking at Rein for his points than price, plus being one of the best looking round 12 bye players at this point. Peats is still out for a while which helps too.

Yeah for sure, i was trying to say that it might not be ideal (as in best case scenario/timing) but its still a solid trade.

Smith is only averaging 0.2 more than Cook which I am comfortable calling negligible (unless I came second by a point or 2 at seasons end). It’s also only been the last 2 weeks Smith has closed the gap with back to back 70+ scores and Smith has had a 42 this season, lower than Cook’s current low score.

If you have picked Cook each and every week your Captain is averaging near enough to 62 and that’s got to be a pass mark.

I had Smith all pre season but got spooked by BSmith and also the ‘he’s got to start slowing down at some point’ theory. Have regretted it but would have had him and Cook, not instead of. He will rip the Broncos a new one is my tip, so I’m staying on board even against my team.

Yeah, fair points both you and SI make. When you look at the stats and compare how he's going to others, he's doing well as a captain. At least I haven't been having to do the captaincy roulette every Thursday afternoon.

I've made 9 trades so far this year (a 10th is pending this week).

Four were because of injury (Friend, DCE, Burns, Brown), one suspension (Pangai), & one dropped (Keighran).

Keighran probably wouldn't have lasted in my side anyway, he wasn't scoring well.

The other three were Edwards (lol, got dropped anyway), Rava (got dropped the same week I was trading him), and Garner (who happened to cop a HIA and miss the next week).

Anyway, point being that over half my trades were because of unforeseeable outcomes, and that sort of stuff is likely to continue.

Morgan could have a good day out against the Titans. I'm expecting CHT to have a good one to stick it to the Warriors for wanting Nikorima.

I think they'll probably score around the same but it's which team you back to put in a good performance.

12 trades so far, no trades this week.
I'm planning on bringing in 5 round 12 players just before the bye round to up my numbers, but will mainly be focussing on getting my 17.
Hopefully my slight points advantage will help me maintain a top 100 ranking over the bye period.
