But Ponga looks the goods, and Dragons really don't. He could have serious fun against their changing-at-random backline.

1 trades out, 2 trades in for each player unless you're super cashed up in the bank. I'm saying 2 trades to get them back in because of the the cash out options are near bottom dollar, unless your have some middies to upgrade?
Yes, traded Bateman for Young last week and thinking of Fifita to Cook this week.
Planning on bringing both back in. Subject to the 27gazillion injuries and team changes to interrupt my plans, I'm currently thinking I'll trade Tolman to Fifita after Rd 12, and I'll trade Xerri to Bateman after Rd17.
I think you're overstating the number of trades it takes though, because I would have been using trades anyway. Consider it this way:
Option 1, trade Fifita to Cook and then Tolman to Fifita. 2 Trades to end up with Cook and Fifita.
Option 2, trade Tolman to Cook. 1 trade to end up with Cook and Fifita.
So it only uses one extra trade to get Fifita out for about 3-4 weeks and bring Cook in 3-4 weeks earlier.
But I recognise all of this may be absolutely insane.

18 if I make 2 trades this week. I think I've banked 2 so far this year. Takes me another 10 to get where I want through byes (albeit a little short of cash to execute my plans so will probably need another 1 or 2 for cashcows over that time). Leaves 6-8 for sideways trades for injury. I think that's enough... maybe... I dunno.

Not captaining cook has bit me in the bum the last few weeks (Round 4 was last time i captained him)
R5 Cook 86 v Ted 44 (88)
R6 Cook 61 v Nikora 68 (136)
R7 Cook 47 v Ted 62 (124)
R8 Cook 70 v Arrow 67 (134)
R9 Cook 98 v Arrow 56 (112)
Cook 362 (714) v Other 297 (594)
This means i have missed out on 120 points which would put be at 491st (currently 1708) and 230 behind top 10. Think I will just stick with Cook for the rest of the year.

Believe I have changed my mind yet again and am bringing in Wighton instead of Tedesco for the purpose of extra funds plus an extra round 12 player.
Hughes to Dearden
Lawrie to Wighton
17 trades 389k bank
Cook
Fifita Tolman
Murray Taupau Arrow
ARey Dearden
Nikora Xerri
Ponga CNK Wighton
Smith
Mahoney
Rein
Haas
Young
Whitbread
Sivo
Brown
Next week Sivo will become Tolo most likely and Rein will probably become Teddy/Munster after round 12. Slowly getting towards my final team, thoughts?

I think this cost me the win last season (benefit of hindsight!) - captain roulette vs sticking with Cook cost me over 250 points for the season. I know I've banged on about this a couple of times but I need to reinforce this (to myself) to stop me making poor (& drunk) captain decisions. No captain Isaako this season

I think I need to just let myself know that Cook is pick and stick. No point playing captain roulette when Cook will be the highest averaging player come years end. I started with him to be a pick and stick captain. Anyone else who outscores Cook on my team is just a bonus.

You have Cook though, so are still getting 1x his points every week?
In which case you have scored
362 + 594 = 956 points
But if you captained cook each week you'd have
724 + 297 = 1021 points
So the gap is only 65 points. Common mistake in calculating difference in captaincy is to forget you still get the non-captains score, just only once

I am on the anti-Wighton bandwagon. I skipped Surgess early for the same reason, and didn’t even consider Kikau. Just can’t make myself pick a player based on a Try run or potential to go on one.danseels1985 wrote:Believe I have changed my mind yet again and am bringing in Wighton instead of Tedesco for the purpose of extra funds plus an extra round 12 player.

With so many attacking players out maybe Wighton keeps it up, but there is a greater chance he doesn’t. In his favour he does have decent base stats though.

Looking back through my trades, in round 7 I traded in Wighton and Lomax. On paper, that looks disgusting... but Wighton has done better than expected. I'm still not particularly proud of those trades though.
Although round 2:
OUT Holland and Edwards (gruesome twosome)
IN Bateman and Lawrie
OOOF!

The more I look at Young and Martin, the more I want to bring them in and leave $800k in the bank for next week. LoLo still has a biggish BE. And the knee. Fifi could collapse any minute, but sticking with him for now. Lawrie and Burr have both done their job and I’ve been playing them. These lads could score the same and play R12. Then again, it could be a monumental fuckup of magnificent proportions to really fuck my year. Back to stick and pick Cooky. He made me pay big time last week. I think it’s thanks for the memories fellas.

I'm doing this too, Rabs. Those two have peaked and the cows are becoming few and far between. They'll both make more cash than Lolo this week also.
