I love Extra Dry because im a simple man. My mate has been getting me into a few different ones like Big Head and something else I cant quite remember now. But I don't see the point for paying like $15 extra a carton when I simply am happy with Extra Dry

I moved past the TEDs when I was about 18, can't get past how watery it is to me.
Even 150 lashes for me now is too bland. It's an expensive hobby.

I dont drink beer whatsoever. If I drink alcohol it is either whiskey or vodka. Dont drink much to begin with anyway.

Re: Beer Appreciation
Each to their own of course but I must say I think Extra Dry is about the worst beer I've ever had, horrid stuff according to my taste buds...
I've been buying Coopers 62 Pils a bit lately... I like it alot. I can grab a carton for around $45 so not overly expensive...
The other week at golf, my mate I was playing with stopped in at the clubhouse bar at the turn and bought 6 cans of blue death (Tooheys New) for us to drink on the back 9. All kept in a bag full of ice to keep them crispy cold... Now I haven't had a Tooheys New for a while, much less out of a can, but I can tell you on that day, which wasn't overly hot, they went down very very smoothly. When we finished our round we had a couple of schooners of New in the clubhouse but there was a discernible difference in taste, and not for the better.... Anyone have any views on why a can might be better?? A friend once told me that cans hold their taste better because light doesn't penetrate them like a stubby or in a schooner glass.... he might have been drunk though so who knows!

Your mate was spot on. I've been told by multiple brewers to never buy beer that comes in a clear bottle.Manboobs Habib wrote:Each to their own of course but I must say I think Extra Dry is about the worst beer I've ever had, horrid stuff according to my taste buds...

So maybe, just maybe, Tooheys Extra Dry is the best beer in the world but because I've only ever had it out of those clear bottles, that's why I think it tastes like some tepid dirty dishwasher water in a bottle!!

Re: Beer Appreciation
Nope it definitely tastes like tepid dishwater. Personally I can't stand any of the dry varieties, it's made specifically not to taste like beer.Manboobs Habib wrote:

I'm a simple man as well. XXXX or Superdry. I do grab the occasional top shelf beer to try, and some of them actually don't cause a local Smug Alert, but at 40, I need to stick to drinks that I know won't give me a hangover.

I'm not a beer scientist but I've had many a can on the golf course and IMO the combination of thirst and iced cold beer makes even the most putrid of ales taste like mothers milk.
Also maybe the clubhouse beer might have been ordinary for other reasons e.g. tap lines not being cleaned.

Re: Beer Appreciation
Canned beer also lasts longer and holds it flavour due to not being in a glass. A lot of the new beers coming out are in cans because it retains the flavour.
