Beer drinkers have been warned to check the date on their beers following a national recall of up to 40,000 slabs of Carlton Dry glass beer bottles.carlton_dry

The NSW Food Authority issued a statement today warning consumers that batches of 355ml bottles of Carlton Dry with a best before date of July 19, 2016 and July 20, 2016, could contain glass fragments.

“CUB Pty Ltd has recalled Carlton Dry beer sold nationally in BWS, Dan Murphy’s, First Choice, Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, independent Liquor outlets, bars, clubs, restaurants, pubs & hotels,” the statement read.

“The product is being recalled due to possible presence of glass fragments in the product.

“Consumers should not consume this product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

I can handle a little water wastage but there's a rumour going around that small amount of real malt and hops go into it, it doesn't taste like it but that's what I heard.

I can imagine Carlton Dry drinkers reading that and saying "Fuck that they're cold. What's a little shard of glass going to do"

Hate to stereotype but the Carlton Dry drinkers are probably on the shards anyway.

Have a mate who's heavy into the craft beer scene and drags me along, though I'm not really into the stronger taste many crafties have.

Do like Stone & Wood Pale Ale and 4 Pines. Also enjoy a Feral Hop Hog and Two Birds make a "Taco beer" which I like. Had an Erdinger at the German Club next to the Gabba on a bucks once, and that was special. In terms of non crafties, I still like the plain taste of a Corona. I think the QLD weather suits a less strong flavour that is refreshing more than flavoursome.

I also believe people should drink what they enjoy and not have to justify their tastebuds. If that's Corona, VB, XXXX or Diet KB Lager, then so be it.

    They're both heinous.
