Nothing says nrl off-season like training the house down

Lock him into my fantasy team should start the year on fire , peak about round 4 and be an early cash out to pick up the next Bronson Xerri who comes in because someone's injured.

Didn't they say on nrl 360 a while ago that J. Bird was told to look elsewhere & that D. Boyd would be playing ctr. I don't know why they are so intent on keeping Boyd in 1st grade because he's a little bit past it. I actually respect Boyd for sticking it out in 2019 amid all the criticism & fighting for his spot, that just shows his mental toughness. Who knows he might prove me wrong next year & have a great season which would be fitting for such a great player.

A couple of rumour news recently:
    (1) Dragons set to buy I. Luke which won't make McInnes very happy unless the Dragons have given up on JDB & when Luke comes on then McInnes to lock & still plays 80 mins.
    (2) Matterson met with Eels today, early discussion & 2 other clubs are interested in him but it doesn't say who. The Tigers want either money or a player swap which is making the negotiations tricky.

I think people are thinking of I.Luke in his prime, when in reality, the signing is probably a 25th to 30th roster spot on minimum wage purely as backup ? ala fensom and tagatease signings with Broncos in recent years.

I do think - why not just give that spot to a young player. Not sure what Luke can bring to the club really.

Luke is going to a club where he can mentor young players and be a backup.
He's not going anywhere to take minutes in first grade unless it's off the bench and no way he's taking minutes off someone like McInnes.

I agree with all the comments on I. Luke but consider this as a theory. Players who go to the Warriors like Luke turn to shite & when they leave the Warriors they turn to gold. On the surface Luke looks like being a back up & down the pecking order at the Dragons but he could surprise.

I think unless there’s injury his ceiling is 15-20mins where either McInnes shifts to a backrow role, or Luke plays that role. Either way he spells the lock not McInnes. Remember this year even with Dufty and Robson on the bench at various stages, McInnes still played 80. Would be backwards to have him now cede time to Luke.

Most of the time that's true due to the club they move to being more successful, as with the players around them.
Luke going to the Dragons is not going to become a superstar again.

Warriors players who go to shit clubs are still shit. Hurrell springs to mind at the Titans. If anything, you'd say he went backwards.
Warriors players who played well but weren't supported by their team and then went to more successful clubs have been successful - look at Townshend. He did his job in his team most weeks and he has matured as a player but I wouldn't say he's improved out of sight but at a successful club surrounded by good players, he now has a premiership ring.
Same with Jason Bukuya. Played well for the Warriors and plays well for the Sharks. In a better environment, he has reaped the rewards.

Then you've got stand out players like Maloney, McKinnnon, Tate, Price... they have been superstars no matter which club they are at.
Packer and Matulino performed well at the start of their careers at the Warriors, dropped off when they wanted out, picked up for a little while and then have fallen off the radar for most clubs and will be lucky to be playing first grade next year.

These are cherry picked to prove a point here but I think the "all players are better when they're not at the Warriors" is a falsity at worst and simplying the equation at best.

    Kata signs for brumbies.

What a waste of money, I thought union supporters had brains.

Matterson's manager sings like a canary, Souths is the 3rd team he's seeing. The way this has been managed would have to be a consideration for a team signing him

Laumape was performing about the same as Kata when he left the Warriors.
He's now a fringe all black and unlucky not to be playing in the world cup.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Kata is going to set the union world on fire but I'll reserve judgement for now.

Joe Tomane and Cooper Vuna played for the Wallabies, I’m sure Kata will be fine at super rugby level.

Todays transfer rumour...J. Leilua could end up at the Bulldogs with the Raiders telling him he's free to leave despite having another year left on his contract.
Also Leipana will be no more because Rapana has previously signed to play Japanese rugby.
Lastly, Sezer is expected to go to ESL with George Willaims replacing him.

Just on yesterday's I. Luke to Dragons rumour. With the Warriors hooking stocks being basically an injury prone rabble then Tevaga could end up at hooker a lot of the time which is bad for his fantasy output.
