Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
So the rumour of Bradman Best being injured that MattNZ said a couple of days ago is true, though it looks to be only precautionary
Via Barry Toohey: Best is off training this week and in moon boot with heel problem.
NRL Physio: Moon boot often precautionary and issues very rarely keep players off the park for multiple weeks and players can play through pain

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
Hookers...
Some Saturday afternoon musings...
We're at the doorstep of another season and it looks like there is plenty of value on offer among the number nines. Last season we saw CS9 step down from his origin duties and yet again take the top spot among the fantasy elite when we look at overall points scored. OK he was relegated to 2nd place for season average by Haas, but that doesn't make him less elite. I'm expecting more of the same of Smith this season, or will there be a decline? nah probably not. There will be plenty of extra kicking for him this season. If only he played round 12...
That brings me to the other hooker called Cameron on the books. McInnes was only 64 points behind CS9 in the overall scoring. He looks set to spent 80mins on the park week in week out, probably spending the tail end of the games at Lock. Where is DeBelin when you need him, right? McInnes is one of the few guns playing round 12, hence he makes it into my squad...
What's cooking? I've been a fan of Damian since he took the field in the last 3 games of 2015, so much promise, so many fantasy points! In 2019 I expected him to surpass CS9, but with him not playing round 12 & 16 and taking it easy in round 13 Smith managed to stay ahead of him. I kind of expect a similar thing to happen this season, or will he take on more load with Surgess, Gurgess, and Sutton out of the picture?...
SALE SALE SALE, HUGE DISCOUNT! That's what comes to mind when I think of Jake Friend. For a player who averages 56 points when playing the 80, getting a 612k price tag is a bargain! You might say "what about Verrills? will he take away minutes from Friend?" Let me say, Verrills did a great job last season, but we expect Friend to play big mins. I'm sure Robinson will have plenty of forwards on the bench to make sure of it. After round 1 last year I thought not picking Friend in my starting squad was a mistake, he scored 92 points Sadly for those who picked him, the joy didn't last long. We all know what happened. There won't be much risk picking him this season, so hop on board, the Friend Freight Train is leaving the station WOOT WOOT!

WOw hard to pick a decent team this year. Surely there is some logic in avoiding the subjective price increase players and waiting for trials and seeing which base price players are the go for most of your cows? Bet they bump some prices up after the trials too

why do I keep thinking that friend will be the trap of the year? I reckon you get what you pay for and nothing more. This is around his average when playing up to 65 minutes. I don't see him playing more than that. But I don't see much. Who do you think will be a trap and why?

Because he's injury prone & Verrills will take mins off him.

As someone else said Robinson does like using 4 forwards off the bench.White Lightning wrote:

If Verrills is on the bench it’s probs good news for Crichton.
But then again when Verrills comes on does Friend move to lock?

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
If verrills and aubbs are both on the bench then someone in the middle is probably playing big mins..
Or does aubbs start 2rf and Crichton play some middle from the bench again
It's all a bit of a mystery. Robinsons rotations don't usually follow a set formula like some teams.

Mate, we can speculate all we like, but it's too early to tell. Friend said in December that he expects to share time with Verrills.
If verrills is not on the bench then Friend is a no brainer.
Given Robinson rarely gives anything away, we're probably no chance of getting anything concrete until 1hr before kickoff in round 1

I feel like Cook can only improve again. He had some horrible halves of footy Fantasy wise last year and saved his score by the end of the game. In saying that, what if he starts having 2 horrible halves a game
Early rounds suggested he was getting more KM's as rumoured, but that dried up. He teased a lot with a shitload of half darts from dummy half and then moved the ball on, as opposed to 2018 where he backed himself pretty much every time and ran it.

The dudes on the supercoach podcasts are of the opinion Verrills willl get near 20 mins off Friend. That and his injury history lately means he is a no go for me. I like Hookers to be set and forget. Will probably be hard enough picking other speculative options in other positions this year without making that one hard too when it doesn't really need to be.

That’s good. I’ll be avoiding too many bumped up players then and going more with who emerges in the trials

It's a different team this season, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. You would expect him to be more involved as a senior player

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
Anyone else not considering Blayke Brailey after his price bump?
He is priced 9 points more than his average last season. Even if he gets 60 minutes per game, scoring at 0.6 ppm, thats only 36 point average, only 8 points more than he is priced at. Seeing better value elsewhere, and with many other value hookers and only 1 spot, it seems better for depth to get someone else.

I don't think this will make Friend a trap. If he only plays 60 mins at least you will get what you payed for.
