I think he could be a good pick up, I'm sure he will score a few more points, he may fit in well at Manly. In saying that there are a few better cheap options at hooker. Koroisau and BBrailey look promising.

When people are saying 228k, are people factoring in that a lot of the cash cow value is actually priced at 246kish? Grant and Luai for example are players you probably don't want to leave out, but who you probably want in your NPRs. It's a difference of nearly 80k over four NPRs, which is a lot

Looks a good year for value hookers if things to go plan. Make me lean to Haas over Cook/Smith. What are the risks to Friend playing 80? Injury or Vermicelli/Aubo on the bench?

I also challenge people to have a look through all the $228k players and see who might get a start round 1

    Finally have an hour to sit down and open fantasy for the first time this season. First draft;

    Koro
    Haas Knight
    Lowe Sua Matterson
    Moses Mann
    Lomax Talua
    Nofo Brimson Papy

    Stimson Brailey Grant Doueihi

    Luai Musgrove Mago Best

76K left. Wanted to see what I could come up with with having an expensive back. Having an expensive back is alomst impossible to get good team balance but cover in all areas at the moment and just tried something a little different.

I had considered starting Koro at 9 but the fear is that its then too hard to upgrade someone to a Cook/McInnes/etc

Seen a few people on board for SST, I’m coming around. I think he’s an elite middle at Taupau, AFB, Klemmer, Fifita level and could score low 50s at 100k less cost. He was pretty much there last year until an injury mid-season saw him come back a bit busted/reduced minutes. I’m not seeing much I like at FRF yet.

Few direct and indirect fantasy impacts

Haas - With one locked in cheapie gone in a tough front row position is there a shift to set and forget?

Mofo - Absolute beast who passes the eye test. Pretty much locks him in for a starting spot and 50+ minutes. Average of 48 points when playing 50+ the last 2 seasons

Arrow - One less big minute player in the Titans pack could lead to bigger minutes for Arrow. In 60+ minute games Arrow averages 65 over the last 2 seasons

Knight/Merrin - As popular options in the same price range do they now become less risky as they enter more teams?

As much as I love Arrow, last year was underwhelming...

Man, would retirement be on the cards for James now? Such a shame cause he misses the All-Stars game too

I haven’t really felt like I know enough to say this, but have been wondering how some people already with Luai, Milne/SMith-Shields/Talau, Magoulias are then banking on another 3/4 228-246k players. There might be 1-2 but that’s hopeful.

The only guaranteed one is Luai. Grant and Magoulias are strong possibilities, but I wouldn't want to be counting on Magoulias in a pack of big minute players

I don't think there will be many 228k starters. Possibly a few more $246k players? We don't know until round 1.
Musgrove may be in with a chance, but I don't know who will miss out at the Tigers if this is the case.

I think there's a good chance Magoulias gets a run in my NPR's. He won't make loads of cash off the bench, but should slowly make cash and only needs a couple of bigger games where someone comes off with HIA or whatever to make it a really good pick. Might only be an injury or two away from a much bigger role too.

Both injury and Verrills are risks, but his price tag mitigates some of that risk. Even with 50-60mins Friend will probably reach his BE.

    Very fair call pal.

    Not seeing it this year.

Only maybe Ramien Gun underpriced for me, be he ain’t no 80min edge forward!

I reckon Magoulis will make a good little earner in NPRs. I bet he turns out to be one of those guys who keeps getting extra mins because of in game injuries/HIAs

A few always come out of the woodwork late, especially in the backs, last season it was guys like Ravalawa and Sivo. This year there will be similar bolters. If Leleisiaou gets his well deserved shot finally, will be straight in my team. He dominated most of the stats in Canterbury Cup last season. Might even do what someone else said they would do and include him in my team even if not starting round 1, a bit like Xerri last season for me.
