No love for Danny Levi behind one of the best forward packs of 2020?

I want to start with him, but i'm strugging to actually find room for him (and have coverage for other positions).

Tempted to go Levi over Blayke Brailey (if i can afford it). I think there is a chance he provides as much value as Blayke Brailey, but if he does, you're getting almost keeper scores from him, whereas Blayke is still a required trade.

AFB/Jake T potential to miss the first couple of weeks put me off a little though.

    Danny Levi:

34 games of over 60min starting at hooker (for an avg of 70min): average is 38.5.

Priced at 35.7. You guys must be expecting a huge improvement in performance to be considering him. Not saying it won't happen but it's a no from me. Also has a stinker in him. Five of those 34 games have scores in the 20's, four of them in the teens!

Across 2018/2019 as starting hooker it was 13 games over 60 (avg roughly 70 mins) for an avg of 46.4

In 2019 alone, 7 games for 48.6. Didnt go below 43 in that time.

In 2016 and 2017 he was pretty young, in a team that won the spoon two years in a row.

He's only just turned 24 recently.

Manly do play a style that should suit his game.

I think there is a solid argument that he could put up a good average around 45 ish

After my thought experiments last night, this is the team I ended up with. Good money-making potential and relatively POD.

Is there anyone I should just no to. Got injury coverage for all positions and a decent captain option.

Always a consideration for me. I quite like the idea of having a player that is out for a week or 2 which you start off as an npr and is a massive pod when they actually play.

For those looking at A Fifita, via NRL Physio FB:

Andrew Fifita will miss the #AllStars game as he recovers from “knee cleanout” surgery prior to Christmas. This surgery type often used to trim/smooth damaged cartilage, remove scar tissue/loose bone fragments.

Max recovery usually 8-10 weeks; Fifita is expected to be fit for trials.

Fifita has a recent history of injury to his left knee (no word on surgery side yet):‬
‪- left knee is PCL deficient (plays without a PCL), suffered severe bone bruising in 2018‬
‪- had 2 procedures (clean out & stem cells) prior to 2019 season‬
‪- aggravated old knee injury in 2019‬

Also from the same source, Brian T’oo got a concussion after passing out from dehydration during sandhill runs while carrying sandbags, dropping the sandbags on his own head. Which sounds like some insane US high school/college football shit, you’d think professional clubs would better manage their players. Might explain why Panthers consistently seem “unlucky” with injuries.

Side looks OK except for your halves and centres and also the second row quite weak. Having both Mann and Luai means you have to play one of them and be stuck with their score, then if any of your halves go down, you got real problems. Also no FRF or CTR coverage and extremely limited WFB coverage, unless Saab actually plays.

Yep that's my thinking, and Newcastle bench looks thin. He strikes me as being an explosive player, give him a decent forward pack and he will be up against some tired opposition.

Like it, but I don't like isaako. I have a feeling the Broncos may be even worse this year with Croft (More confusion and lack of direction).

Hmm, you're right. All good points. I was a bit hasty there me thinks. Probably can't fit him in still, would be for Brailey if I did.

Hooker is the most difficult position to feel good about putting a mid-priced punt in.

It's a Premo and 80 min rookie spot.

I still remember the year the winner went with Smith and Farah in his starting team. Seemed crazy to spend that kind of coin.

Has anyone ever won with two mid priced Hookers starting? Brailey and Levi? I'll tell you at the end of the season!

Wasn't this a fluff piece at the end of last year when they had column inches to fill and players weren't getting arrested
