You have to have 29 players registered in round 1, and 30 players registered by June

But nothing says you can't drop numbers in between.

If the NRL can't work out how to acceptably transfer $16k in salary cap value from the Storm to the Tigers, I am not sure they'll be OK with this sort of thing, but I guess we just wait and see.

Storm could just always promote some development player next week to give them an extra body and then this whole round 1 thing becomes irrelevant anyway

We're all just making assumptions at the moment based on what has happened in the past.

WCC will be interesting but Robinson has form for doing things at the WCC which he doesnt do in the regular season.

That's a potential concern, that Friend gets a good 70 minutes this weekend, but then in round 1 he changes things up.

I think long term, Friend plays big minutes. But if he splits time evenly with Verrills in the WCC there will be a few of us getting cold feet.

I'd love to see Friend and Verrills split minutes 40/40 in WCC, then have Verrills named in 14 come TLT. Robbo has always used a big minute hooker and isn't going to stop now

I reckon this is likely. Might depend on the scoreline too (in the WCC)..

Even if you're wrong it won't be the end of the world, he might be trade but not an urgent one. With the upside available it seems fairly low risk.

The only trial match with NRL players in it is Titans v Burleigh

Eels v Rabbitohs & Broncos v Wynnum are reserve grade teams

Edit: Eels actually have a few first grade players scattered among younger players (RCG, N Brown, Mahoney, M Jennings, Lane, Niukore, Utoikamanu)

Eels named 7 or so who will def be in their round 1 team. They named all their forwards except for Paulo

Its not a particularly interesting trial tho.. might be a fight for 1 or 2 bench spots..

Ithink Alvaro is one of my favourite players. He was a gun 2 years ago not quite sure what happened last year

Sucks that Merrin isn’t playing in trial against Knights. Was keen to see how he goes

This Grant thing is juicy. If it happens, do you hold him as NPR for a week, maybe even do some casual looping... or waste a trade* and bring him to start R2?

*I say 'waste a trade' but on past experience I'll be double trading hard after R1 anyway. And R2, R3, R4 etc.

I think if you don't start with him and he is named round 2 it's worth waiting to see how he scores. Very minimal price rise off 1 game, and on the very off chance he is a dud you play it safe

Also, if Grant doesn't come to the Tigers until after round 1, it means he won't have had any time to train with them, and every chance he'll play off the bench for his debut as they try to bring up to speed with the team.

If the round 2 thing is looking like a goer, I think I'd have him and loop him rd 1.

I'm unsure, because he is a fantasy gun. Will get you 50 tackles a game, can run and kick and knows how to set players up. I think he will be this years big money maker.

Grant was always one of those players I said if he ever gets a run he is straight in my team.

I'm thinking the same. Even if he's not playable until R3, because he starts bench R2, I don't think you lose any points - you're going to be playing a flaky 246k WFB whether Grant is in or out of your squad. And cash generation wise you maybe lose 10k some other flaky 246k WFB generates, but you save a trade.
