NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 23 - Trade-a-palooza

Apparently Oates said that Lodge won't be ready for round 3 so Flegler will probably start. But we all know how these league players tell porkies. If Flegler starter would anyone be keen to buy. There's a high risk that Lodge is back round 4. But this situation reminds me of the Rein situation...Peats was only supposed to be out for a short time but it wasn't true & by the time Rein became an option he was too much. It's one of these buy now or not at all scenario's.

I'm just re-watching the Flegler monster game vs Souths. I prefer Horse for similar price and better long term prospects of holding a starting spot. Back on the bench he likely averages 30.White Lightning wrote:Apparently Oates said that Lodge won't be ready for round 3 so Flegler will probably start. Won’t Horse also be on the bench as soon as Bateman returns?mattnz wrote:

Should be starting prop next to Papalii. Lui has been the other starting prop and only got 33 minutes both games. Clearly not preferred to Horse. The Pascoe Fiasco wrote:

Shit I completely forgot about Horse. If named to start on tuesday it will be very hard not to reverse my trades and fit him in my team

Packer could return to Warriors
Speaking of the Tigers, there are discussions around a potential loan deal involving Russell Packer returning to the Warriors for the next month. Packer is unlikely to be in the Tigers’ best 17 in the first round back, and the club believes he would benefit from a stint with the Warriors given there isn’t a lower-grade competition for him to imporve his match fitness. If he's as fit and lean as he was pre-season, I would take him back in a heartbeat.

Whatever a olayer averages at the end of the season is only relevant if you owned them from the beginning. You just want to get lucky with guys like teddy/etc so that they go on a run of scores right when you trade them in
Anyway, much harder this year to nail it all without being able to strategically gain ground over the bye period
Yeah, no bye round is a bit of a disadvantage for those that didn't get a good start

As in you want to take over the team for a year? Im just enjoying not spending so much time on fantasy football, i almost didnt play to start the year. Ill still do the odd draftstars
I know what you're saying Shanbon... I enjoyed the break too... I'll keep on, but I'll try not to let it consume me as much this season.

Has anyone got DCE's stats from last year? Want to do some research on his stats before buying him.

Im in a league with a money pool and overall points doesn't really worry me, I've got a pretty good draw the coming weeks so I think I'm right holding Dfifita and cleary.
How do these trades sound
TPJ to grant
Aekins to isaako or tuala to aubo (aubo will be center)
Williams to fogart
knight to Lolo

Just some maths on remaining trades.
Lets assume you used 2 trades after round 1, and the full 4 this week.
Then you have 22 trades left for 21 spots in your squad.
Once you make your 2nd trade in round 4, then there is 1 player who is guaranteed to stay in your team for the rest of the comp.
If you spend that trade on a cash cow you intend to replace, that means an extra player in your squad who'll be there for the duration.
If you use max trades for the next 2 rounds, there are guaranteed 3 players you will never trade out.
That assumes you don't have to spend any trades in injuries.
Its where guns and cows are rewarded this season. Personally, I have Ponga, Cleary and Tauamalolo (and maybe on Aubusson) but after that, every player in my squad is unlikely to be an ideal final 17 player. But unless I get real lucky with cash generation and injuries, some of them are going to have to be. I guess everyone has hopes Grant will score well enough to keep. Maybe Koroisau will be able to hang around.
I see people trading people in because they have a good run of 4 fixtures - is the rest of your team good enough to allow you to spend trades bringing in guys for form?
if you are making decisions between say Issako or Valentine Holmes - you really should do so on the assumption that they will be in your team all season - because a bad week or 2 with injury/suspension and they will end up with you by default
Agree with other posters, this is a crucial piece of analysis for the season.
It may have subsequently been said, but on top of the implications you highlight Milch, the other one that would seem important is the reduction in cash generation due to reduced trades.
I might not have the numbers correct, but the point remains the same. If we are 4? trades down on previous seasons, that is arguably about 4 x $150k = $600k reduced cash generation. Thats equates to a final 17 that is roughly 40 points down on previous years. You can disaggregate that however you want: but it probably means having 4 x 50 point average players in stead of the usual 60 point guns, Therefore, the likes of Carrigan, Drinkwater, Pap, Koroisau etc, all these guys in your original team that are perhpas 5-10 points short of what you might normally consider a final 17 player, are probably gonna have to do this season....
Am I on the right track? I havent been able to check my numbers.

I understand this break has been a mighty pain, but you have been around a long time mate and know how much effort goes into the leagues and ho much people dropping out effects them.
If the season didn't have this break I'm pretty sure you would of carried on the season as normal, I don't see how much difference. I will take over your team to maintain it if you want
