I understand this break has been a mighty pain, but you have been around a long time mate and know how much effort goes into the leagues and ho much people dropping out effects them.

If the season didn't have this break I'm pretty sure you would of carried on the season as normal, I don't see how much difference. I will take over your team to maintain it if you want

I don’t mean to speak for Shanbon mate, but covid has put things in perspective for many people, and in doing so changed priorities. I can completely understand how the covid break will mean people decide to drop out, particularly those like shanbon who were on the fence anyway. Good thing is, many on here are putting their hands up to manage these teams for others. My guess though is people like shanbon and myself are the tip of the iceberg....

Understand That the virus has potentially altered peoples lives mate but the line from Shanbon was he almost didn't play to start season anyway, I know its only a game and it effected me over here, but i'll plug away and make sure i keep the team chugging along. If he can't then i'll manage his side

I honestly enjoyed the break. NRL and fantasy + betting, it is pretty consuming of a weekend some times (not only the physical act of sitting on the couch watching games, but mentally thinking about it all the time..). Actually got back into some old hobbies over the break, did a bunch of DIY stuff (built a small deck off the back of our house). Like I know I can do all that shit while the footy exists too but its just stuff you get lazy on doing cos "ah.. footys on soon, lets goto the pub". I'm keen as for the footy to start again but I'm also trying not to let it consume me so much. (i say this while being fully aware im a privileged fuck who hasn't lost work or anything over this time)

Anyway, thread derail. TLT will be a good one!

Understand mate. Im grateful WL will manage my team. I probably would have half heartedly done it, but even in normal times WL beats me at this game anyway, so he's an upgrade Smile

I think RnT is right, it definitely puts things into perspective, and people's perspective and views on things is different person to person.  You can't blame people for dropping out and even though it's easy to read up for 15 minutes, make 2 trades and move on and wait for next week, if you're not fully invested, that's a pointless exercise.  If leagues get affected by a few people, I don't think it's the end of the world.  If a few fanatics are dropping out, imagine how many casual punters are going to drop out?  it's an anomoly of a season.

Whatever the case is, I'm glad to have it back.  I've made it part of my routine for quite a few years now and just love watching the footy.  I think for me I think the break will be a good thing because I'm very much looking forward to it and very grateful to have it back, but it's also been good getting things done over the last two months so I think it will consume me less than what it use to.  Agonising over trades is both fun and not fun when it doesn't go your way.  I don't want to feel that anymore.  I want to have fun with it and cop it on the chin if it doesn't go my way.  I've never been an elite player and I don't think ever will, so I just want to enjoy this and appreciate what he have while we have it.  It may also mean I don't have to be glued to the tv for every game.  If the misses wants to do something on a Saturday arvo and I miss the 3pm game, it's not the end of the world haha.

It's a pleasure my brother. In fact we have a lot in common.....you have a new born baby who makes you get up during the night to soothe & put back to sleep & I have a 90 year dementia sufferer who makes me get up during the night to put him back to sleep. Very Happy

Not that important but I think the Broncos might name both Farnworth and Paix on the bench, with two middles rounding out the 17. If Lodge is fit then he'll play and Kennedy misses out. Ofa the other bench spot. Paix essentially takes Macca's spot from round 1 and 2.

Just running with 2 bench middles makes sense since the middle starting pack has players like Haas & Carrigan who are capable of playing 80 mins so you don't need forward depth off the bench.

Yup. It will make people feel warm and fuzzy about Haas (C).

I've said for a couple of years nwo that I'm surprised teams don't set up this way more often. The amount of times an outside back cops an injury or HIA and it just kills a team mid game. Doesn't make a lot of sense to run a 4 forward bench these days.

Bateman is saying his twitter account was hacked and he hasn't been making posts. The most recent tweet said "Don is a dick head too". https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/raiders/i-hope-hes-been-hacked-nrl-reacts-to-batemans-fake-tweet-claim-amid-contract-storm/news-story/75f30e935cc43bed855111e43afa9acb

I was watching the 2014 round 1 game Manly v Storm on tv & Manly were winning by about 20 points at half time but Brett Stewart got injured so they had to totally re-arrange the team as back then you only had forwards on the bench. Anyway the Storm ended up winning.

A few paying saying Haas for captain... but I am absolutely frothing at Tolo against the Titans. Cowboys only with the 1 win so they will need to get as many wins as possible with their easier early draw, and they will be out of the gates firing. No Morgan means they might look to play through the middle a little more. Tolo for 300+ metres, a handful of TB's and even a smokey for a first try scorer.

If you already have Lolo, Moses, Haas who is the next best gun you would try get into the game. Would it be another gun 2rf (Matto), a gun half (DCE), a gun WFB (Turbo/Teddy), a gun Hooker (Smith, McInnes) or a gun centre (Xerri)

Depends on team composition. The glaring weakness in my team is at center, will look to beef that up next week with a keeper.

Take your pick really. I always lean to hook/2rf gun first as they're generally more consistent. Nothing worse than trading in a wfb gun who gives you a 30 in the first week.

That said the Roosters are 0-2 and should be fired up against Souths, Teddy could have a big game.

It never appeared on his twitter feed, its a faked image. Can't believe its gone this far and people are believing he'd come out calling his current coach a dickhead and asking for him to be sacked.

If you want a good conspiracy theory - It could be that some random created the tweet image but you never know, it could've come from an organisation that wants Hooper to look like the good guy here.

The Pro-V'landys rhetoric at FoxSports is getting pretty sickening at the moment too.

Alternatively Cowboys get out to an early lead and Lolo gets a rest on the expectation of a long season with no byes
